Hi All just joined the forum ! I’ve a blue 2004 TTR which I manage to get out on pretty regularly over in Shropshire and Mid Wales. I’ve been delighted with the bike since buying it in April, and have already managed well over 2500 off road miles since then with just regular maintenance ! im just about to po...
The Colorado and Montana TAT posts inspired me to re-run the Oregon TAT sections (my recommended that is). I've only found time to do the western half because of work and all, and I have to pray to the dirt gods to let me pass unseen over pavement, so my progress is slow. If you crossed the Cascades this we...
Went for a winter burn out to some tracks in Neerim South Vic the other day with a mate on his TTR600. Not too wet, but a few puddles lying around, but the soil is more Sandy and not as much clay as our usual haunt at Bunyip. A couple of tracks closed for winter, but many still open and very rideable. Many of th...
G'day all, bought a rough TTR250 for a bit of scrub bashing and run to work on. Was an old station bike, so has had a bit of damage over the years. Don't remember having had so much fun . It is good to see a community with so much help and information available. I also have a V-Strom 650 which is not so good on th...

Hello. On my open enduro the chain guard bolts on 2 bolts on the upper side of the swingarm. The bottom part is loose. Is this supposed to be so?Some times it moves close to the tire or to the rear guard and makes some noise. The manual doesn't show clearly how it is installed. The swingarm seems to have a bra...
Happy Birthday dear Brian,Happy birthday to you. I will not tell your actual years, but you are a few less than me and have some catching up to do. Keep smiling and don't forget the pasties on such an auspicious occasion. Martyn
Morning all I've been on the bike for 3 months solid, but I now feel the need for more power. I've read the uncorking notes and have adjusted the throttle screw and my snorkel was already cut down. Before investing in a new can I was looking to take the baffle out of the old one. I have attached a photo has th...

Hello, I have been a Bluey owner and lurker of this fine forum for a while. I am lucky to live in Wiltshire which has many miles of quality byways and Salisbury Plain to explore. Most of my byway riding in recent years has been on a TT600RE but after finding a decent Bluey last year this is now my go to trail bi...
hi, I did a little off-roading today. When accelerating from walking pace in first gear, there is a noticeable vibration through the footrests which goes away as the revs rise. Anyone experienced the same thing ? any suggestions what to look at ? Thanks in advance
I am looking for a Givi Monokey top box base as I have two bikes with racks but only one top box and I would like to be able to swap the box over occasionally. Mine looks like this and is different to the Monolock fitting. Anyone got one they want to sell please? Brian
I have recently been bottoming out occasionally on the rear shock and believe the best way to reduce this is to increase the compression damping. As I understand it, this is normally very easy on a TTR, just requiring the hand rotation of an adjustment knob on the remote shock reservoir canister.......
Rebuilding a recently purchased used carb that was in quite a state and in checking the float bowl check valve (little top hat shaped brass thingy that seats into the bowl) found I couldn't blow air through it either way. Much soaking and prodding with a stick, then blowing the air line through it, and i...
My leak from the banjo bolt on the clutch casing has got to a point where it needs repair. It seems the threads have been stripped as i cannot tighten the banjo bolt to the copper washer and casing. Can the threads be repaired here? -- Edited by Firestorm809 on Sunday 21st of July 2019 10:56:14 AM
Spent months reading and learning mainly from this forum. Just wanted to thank everyone involved for their input. Pleased with my 2004 TTR250. Few jobs to do on it but nothing major. It'll be used as as a occasional commuter in winter to save my new Africa Twin from the salted roads. Primarily it'll be...
Anyone have personal experience of using a leak down tester and, if so, does this one look as if it will do the business please? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281699757535BrianThis is what my book says:Leak Down Testing Methods Leak down testing is a more definitive way to assess the health of an en...
Hey peeps The "new" ttr has something odd with the clutch. The clutch friction/engagement point moves from engaging when the lever is almost fully out to about the midway point once it is warmed up. Thoughts on what might be happening here? I notice the clutch pivot (whatever its called!) on the en...
Hi all, I am about to fit a first oversized Wossner piston but there are no instructions with the piston rings so I have a couple of questions. Can anyone confirm that the "chrome looking" ring is the top ring , and the dull grey ring is the second ring? Can anyone tell me what their end gaps should be? On th...
Been many years since I last posted on this forum but now I'm selling my son's TTR so thought I'd give you guys first option as I'd rather see it go to someone who appreciates the TTR. A 1999 open enduro been on sorn since 2016 because he hasn't been using it. I've gone over the bike added some new fork boot...
