Hello, I have been a Bluey owner and lurker of this fine forum for a while. I am lucky to live in Wiltshire which has many miles of quality byways and Salisbury Plain to explore. Most of my byway riding in recent years has been on a TT600RE but after finding a decent Bluey last year this is now my go to trail bi...
hi, I did a little off-roading today. When accelerating from walking pace in first gear, there is a noticeable vibration through the footrests which goes away as the revs rise. Anyone experienced the same thing ? any suggestions what to look at ? Thanks in advance
I am looking for a Givi Monokey top box base as I have two bikes with racks but only one top box and I would like to be able to swap the box over occasionally. Mine looks like this and is different to the Monolock fitting. Anyone got one they want to sell please? Brian
I have recently been bottoming out occasionally on the rear shock and believe the best way to reduce this is to increase the compression damping. As I understand it, this is normally very easy on a TTR, just requiring the hand rotation of an adjustment knob on the remote shock reservoir canister.......
Rebuilding a recently purchased used carb that was in quite a state and in checking the float bowl check valve (little top hat shaped brass thingy that seats into the bowl) found I couldn't blow air through it either way. Much soaking and prodding with a stick, then blowing the air line through it, and i...
My leak from the banjo bolt on the clutch casing has got to a point where it needs repair. It seems the threads have been stripped as i cannot tighten the banjo bolt to the copper washer and casing. Can the threads be repaired here? -- Edited by Firestorm809 on Sunday 21st of July 2019 10:56:14 AM
Spent months reading and learning mainly from this forum. Just wanted to thank everyone involved for their input. Pleased with my 2004 TTR250. Few jobs to do on it but nothing major. It'll be used as as a occasional commuter in winter to save my new Africa Twin from the salted roads. Primarily it'll be...
Anyone have personal experience of using a leak down tester and, if so, does this one look as if it will do the business please? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281699757535BrianThis is what my book says:Leak Down Testing Methods Leak down testing is a more definitive way to assess the health of an en...
Hey peeps The "new" ttr has something odd with the clutch. The clutch friction/engagement point moves from engaging when the lever is almost fully out to about the midway point once it is warmed up. Thoughts on what might be happening here? I notice the clutch pivot (whatever its called!) on the en...
Hi all, I am about to fit a first oversized Wossner piston but there are no instructions with the piston rings so I have a couple of questions. Can anyone confirm that the "chrome looking" ring is the top ring , and the dull grey ring is the second ring? Can anyone tell me what their end gaps should be? On th...
Been many years since I last posted on this forum but now I'm selling my son's TTR so thought I'd give you guys first option as I'd rather see it go to someone who appreciates the TTR. A 1999 open enduro been on sorn since 2016 because he hasn't been using it. I've gone over the bike added some new fork boot...

Hello All ... hope you're all making the best of the long days out on the trails :) In the build uo to a long adventure, I've decided to do a general maintenance on my TTR and on my VERY long list is oil change to the rear shock. I purchased a 'Nitrogen needle with Schrader valve kit' from Totally TTRs and afte...
Hey Guys, new member here. Got myself an 05 TTR250 about 3 months ago and its got roughly 8500km on it. My issue is it seems to burn approximately 100ml of oil per 180km (1 tank of fuel). It doesn't noticibly smoke, however if I leave it idle then give it a rev I can see some bluish tinged smoke out the exhaust...
TTR250 - set up as Mini adventure tourer. 22lt tank (Zen mounting kit), Renthal Bars (Jimmy Button high bend), grip warmers, gripper seat cover, DID chain (14/47 sprockets which is a great mix - does 100kmh easily but isn’t over geared for the trail) with less than 600kms, serviced regularly (oil ch...
Hello from Australia. My names Luke and I'm new to forums. My son has 2011 ttr 50 and my daughter has a yamaha 80.I have a ttr 250 1994 model. Now that I have ticked off all the green lanes locally my thoughts are turning towards travelling further afield - say greater than 70 miles away from home for more adventures. Can't afford a van or towbar/trailer etc so its got to be on the TTR. I'm finding the roadwork can be a bit tiring with the win...
Brian... Now that the TTR is a discontinued model.... where do you see this form going.. XT660.com has shut down as the XT660/Tenere like the TTR are now discontinued ... Made me wonder about this forum... maybe Yamaha Duel Sport form... really there are only a hand full of regular posters on this form...
Hi all, I am trying to re-join the fold. I haven't posted here for a few years now, but am now trying to get my blue tanked TTR back on the road. After getting a very low compression reading from my hot engine (90psi) I had hoped that a rebore and lapping in of the valves would be all that was necessary to reviv...

Hi everybody! Longtime lurker, first time poster here. What a great resource for us owners. Chasing some advice before I strip down my ttr. I have a leaking base gasket that needs replacing. The breather isn't blocked, engine is not blowing smoke or have any other symptoms that would indicate othe...
I need some help determining the exact model of my TTR. The VIN is telling me that is a 1999 so I have that much down. I am trying to determine if I have a UK model or a US model. It has both electric and kickstart which, to my understanding, was only on the UK models; however, it does not have a speedo which shou...
