I rode the TTR to work today and she ran perfectly. I left her parked in the rain for 8 hours. When I started her up to come home, she just didn't want to run. I managed to limp about 1/4 mile, sometimes running fine, then bogging and stalling. Next only running with the choke full out before stalling again?
Whilst waiting for the AA in the rain & 80mph winds, I started her up and let her idle for 2-3 minutes. If I pulled the choke on she flooded & stalled. I started her up again straight away and the opposite happened she would only run with the choke out and stalled as soon as I pushed the choke in?
I won't get chance to have a look at her until the weekend, so any suggestion or theories before then would be appreciated.
Well I had a quick play this afternoon and I'm none the wiser. The bike was still lumpy & bumpy when I started her up.
I drained the tank a pint at a time into a milk bottle and that looked clear. Apart from a couple of tiny, tiny water drops.
I got the carb off and blew through all the jets with a can of compressed air, but they all looked pretty clean anyway. The screws showed signs of previous butchery but the internals look ok.
It was starting to get cold & dark so I connected the carb back up and tried starting her up without the air-box re-installed. She started, idled and rev'd like there was nothing wrong. I didn't fancy a test ride with no seat and the electrics hanging around the shock, so I'll see if the apparent fix is still extant tomorrow.
