Got any idea what this rattle is? (see youtube link below). Its only there when the engine has warmed up. I have just fitted a new timing chain and it the same. It has also had a rebore and new piston. I have check the valve clearance and they seem ok. https://youtu.be/P4QQPBIFY24 -- Edited by AndrewM o...
Wonder how well a xt250 carb would fit ? The cables look like they would be a straight fit and it's a pumper carb like the original. The Teikei carb seems to be getting very rare so could this be a good replacement ? Being Mikuni spares would be available and iv'e seen service kits on ebay. Think i'd give one...
I bought this filter/basket combo some time back so I could swap out in a few minutes and clean my OE filter at a later date and have as a back-up. When I made the swap, I noticed that the UNI basket has a piece on it that was just a bit too tall to make the clamp snap shut [URL=http://s1156.photobucket.com/u...
Had the pleasure of meeting Andy today and taking him for a little starter run into the very wet an muddy mid Devon lanes. [Round of applause for the chap - he did real well for a off road starter] I was kind of shocked just how wet it is we had rain most of the night an the going was very thick mud i cant remem...

Brian has helped with advice, guidance, tools, enormous amount of time and a couple cups of coffee to prep my bike. I would like to thank him for not only showing me what was needed but letting me do it whils...

Hi all, Long for something that's mechanically sound, but not really the best looking.. On the cheaper end of the price scale too :) If you have one, give me a shout please. Based in Manchester, but can travel for the right bike. Cheers Paul
Hey guys. I just picked up an '05 TTR 250 this past Wednesday (so I haven't had a chance to get a manual yet) and have a few questions. I was hoping to ride it tomorrow, but ran across a couple of issues when I started servicing it last night. When I started to clean the air filter, I noticed a couple of hoses a...
bike would not start so took out plug, black and sooty. removed carb to service and follow excellent Sticky removed bowl to find this looks like an interesting weekend following another Sticky on how to repair the post off to look round the Theatres at work to see if I can find a suitable peice of metal to...

Anyone had this? When a mate's TTR gets hot (about 15 miles into a ride) a very loud screech starts in the clutch/gearbox area. The pitch changes as the gears are changed and it happens with the clutch fully engaged. I haven't heard it myself and was unable to replicate the noise when I took the TTR for a ru...
This photo has been added to my Black Museum folder! The current owner popped around tonight to pick up a new 50 pilot jet to replace this one. You just wonder how the previous owner had managed to do this damage Interestingly the TTR started and ran well at lower revs suggesting that the pilot jet con...
I bought this stub from eBay a long time ago as the original Yamaha part was silly money - over £40 at the time I think - but didn't realise until much later that it was manufactured in reverse. It fits fine and will do the job except that the carb locator spigot jobby is 180 degrees out! Easy enough to overc...
Can't seem to find a previous thread on this....I realise that the forks must be part dismantled to a certain degree to fit new gaiters but which is the easiest way? Bike is a 1998 OE.......thanks!
Hi everyone So I recently bought a ttr and the previous owner had the suspension to a very soft setting. This resulted in the rubber at the bottom of the rear shock that prevents the bike from bottoming out (dont know if im explaining it wrong im a newbie) getting quite worn. Yamaha wants to sell me a total...
See the last post for updated list Okay, yes, I know what this looks like. New member, second post on the fleamarket, trying to shift a bunch of parts. And it's an Australian, no less... Well, I hope the mods have mercy, and believe me when I say I am legit, I have been lurking here for some time, and I do h...

Hello everyone. my bike restoration project seems becoming a "Winter project in a Tropical country" After cleaning and gently grinding in the valves, I found that exhaust ones are out of specification. I will need to order a new set and cut the valve seats to fit the specs. Then it will b...
SO FOLLOWING A PREVIOUS THREAD I HAVE BROUGHT SOME YZFR125 WHEELS AS THERE THE SAME FIT AS THE DT WHEELS I HAVE HAD THE WHEEL SPACERS MADE UP FOR THE FRONT AND THE BRAKE CALLIPER MOUNTINGS BUT WHAT EXACTLY DO I NEED TO DO TO THE REAR SPACERS? COULD SOMEONE SEND ME THE DIMENSIONS SO I CAN HAVE SOME MADE UP
Oh dear - I should pay more attention when ordering genuine Yamaha parts - I just tend to re-order without checking unit prices as they rarely change - just had a shock The price of seats has risen by 70% and carb inlet stubs by a mahoosive 138% I took it up with my supplier as I thought mistakes had been ma...
