Hi all. I am a proud owner of a 93 open enduro and I am loving it. I originally bought the bike for my wife to learn to ride on but it was too tall for her and she could not hold it up when she had to lean over to touch the ground. It then spent a few years in the shed without getting much use, I am a trials rider and did not have much time to ride it. I have recently dusted it off and taken it out for a few rides and I have to say, what an awesome machine. It is not left behind in the bush by the bigger bikes it is keeping company with and with 14/51 gearing it is good on the road as well. With a bit of an interest in adventure riding (overlanding) in addition to the trials, I had thought about selling it and upgrading to a Tenere but I don't think I will now. After a few rides on it I have decided to go down the 325 kit, larger fuel tank path and turn it into a lightweight long distance tourer that handles the rough stuff with ease, as opposed to the heavier big bikes.

Welcome to you, Ian.

You've made a good choice, a TTR is more rugged than she looks and is generally more capable than the rider. Definitely so in my case!

Enjoy your riding - there are lots of your countrymen on this forum so you're not alone.

Martyn

Welcome Ian! There have been a fair few TTR's used as long range adventure bikes.. They really are awesomely underrated machines!

Brian (TTRfan) gets someone to produce a lovely set of stainless steel luggage racks with pannier rails for luggagey needs! :D

I'll be interested to see your long distance mods. Perhaps a screen, airhawk seat, dual sport tyres etc..
