Standard exhaust mod

After trying to quieten down a FMF Powercore in various ways i gave up in the end and sold it on to a member on here. I found this mod for the standard exhaust so i gave it a go

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.492210867531305.1073741829.123637337721995&type=1

I didn't take many pics as the above link show all that needed.

After welding it back together i resprayed the whole exhaust with this  Plasticote BBQ paint http://www.mpdirect.co.uk/p/46413/plasti-kote-26020-bar-b-que-6uc?gclid=CjwKEAjw3_ypBRCwoKqKw5P9wgsSJAAbi2K9bDHLxbp7c_bgcEFdHoz_qhFrm_YptIXHV_O5LNLP2xoCPjzw_wcB

Iv'e used this paint many times and it give a very long lasting good finish.

Back on the bike it sounds a bit deeper at idle and throughout the rev range, at WOT it give a much better note. No need to look for another aftermarket exhaust now biggrin  .

Hi Pete, I spotted that mod on here some time ago and tossed that idea around as well

Apart from the exhaust note, what do you think, does it go any better to make it worth the effort ?

Cheers

Steve

Mine definitely goes better but im not sure it's due to the exhaust mod alone. I have a 52.5 pilot jet and a small mod to the snorkel
ttr250.activeboard.com/t60104819/snorkel-mod/

I fitted the larger pilot jet just to cure poor running just above idle and done the exhaust and snorkel mod just after. With these 3 mods it seems to rev faster and generally run better.
It's not much effort to do the exhaust mod, including repainting it took me just over an hour.

Thanks for the advise, I already did the snorkel and jetting mod, I found that as you describe it revs better, cleaner and quicker

I never had a problem with rough running though, mine always ran like a clock.

That is once I ditched the noisy piece of crap Staintune exhaust..

Cheers

Above photo. This is done to standard TTR tailpipe. Id try it if i had an old rusty tailpipe. Bikes for sale on Gumtree Australia.

I did the standard tailpipe mod. It does give it a deeper sound. I also drilled holes in a spare air cleaner cover which seems to give more mid range pulling power. Didnt notice much power increase with just the tailpipe done. If i were to do it again id use a larger diameter opening for even a deeper note.

So did it seem to lose any power anywhere else ??

or just increase in the mid range ??

Been thinking of this for a while

not sure if I want more noise though
