Hi Phil

The YZ range is Yamaha's full on MX bikes. Not really suitable for green laning in my opinion.

Next down their model list is the WRF enduro range and a lot of trail riders successfully use the WR250F - the 450 is totally unnecessary unless you are a riding god! But the older ones are only 5 speed and will buzz your bum off on long road sections. Also, after 2003 the tanks were quite small. The 2003 dual start with biggish tank is the best trail riding option.

Sadly they dropped the WR250R and so don't have a 250cc trail bike option no

Surely someone has a nice TTR for you - anyone??????

If push comes to shove, the Honda CRF250L has respect from owners.

Brian

HI All thank you for your messages i will just have to dig my heels in for a bit longer, there is two bikes Brian pointed out one for me about 50 miles away, then there is another 250 miles away and of course the 250 mile away one looks a better condition bike regarding the WR250f a bit out of my price range :) but Thanks again :)

Don't buy a high maintenance competition machine. Definately hold out for a TTR. Maybe barter with Treens in crediton for a couple hundred off..

The speedos on the blue TTRs usually fail because the drive washer gets worn or damaged. One of these usually fixes it.

Bash plates available here.

I don't know much about the bike but always budget for getting it to where you want it including bash plates, hand guards, tyres, tool bags etc.
Got to be worth a look though.

Bike in Treens is not bad for the money Rod is a Dealer so it's his mark up that makes it a little steep show him cash an you should get a bit off to pay for the farcles the bike needs. think yourself lucky I have known Mr Treen for 50 years or more God knows how many bikes I have had off him over the years he could get a job down Dartmouth on the harbour wall teaching mackeral to hold there ass cheeks togeather hes water tight hold your ground an flash the cash .......................

If you windge n whine about the speedo not working and about the lack of chain guard and fuel breather pipe and rear handles etc they might give in and drop the price.
