Hi there, Doesn't seem to be a thread on this at the moment. Can anyone recommend a good instant gasket for use between the crankcases? I have generic gasket I have used on other parts of the engine well however I want to make sure this is as robust as possible to avoid future issues and a huge waste of tim...
Ok, this thing is not responding to my advances. Bike was left sitting for over a year, carby was the first focus of attention, needed ultrasonic cleaned etc and new diaphragm for the acc. Pump and other assorted o-rings, seals etc. Accelerator pump is squirting. Bear in mind I have tried another carb...
And he came bearing gifts of confectionery which our Australian cousins will surely recognise Great to meet Steve and his lovely wife Wendy today. They are on holiday in the UK from the Macedon Ranges in Oz. Turns out he is a bit of a suspension guru and is the only TTR250 owner I know to have fitted a Wilb...
Hi there, I split my crankcases today and noticed a crack, I dknt think there is any issue really but I'm not 100% sure. Can I have your opinions please? I guess worst case I could get it tig welded or something?
Hi, I’m hoping for a bit of advice ?? I’ve got a fairly low mileage 2004 TTR and until yesterday the starter motor has been faultless....and the yesterday, part way through a long day, it suddenly ‘spun‘ but didn’t engage, if that makes sense ?? I could hear the starter spinning but it’s not turning the e...
Anyone have any experience repairing a cracked tank? From what I can see, plastic welding would be the way to go, but it's important to exactly match the plastic compound to the tank to make it a long term solution. I've been trying to find a tank for my '99 but they're nowhere to be found.

Just bought a 2003, my first bike. I had no clue what to look for when checking it over. I took it out for an hour and dropped it at low speed a few times. Shut it off quickly, but it left some oil on the ground each time. Looking around, I saw a at the top of the cylinder head is a valve with a hose right next to it th...
Hi , newbie to the ttr250 scene. I’m looking to undertake an adventure next year, expecting to do around 8000 miles or so. I’ve considered the big BMW twins, 600cc and even 450cc bikes, but have arrived at having a lightweight bike, the likes of which the ttrs appeals. With this aim in mind, I’m looking t...
I fitted a new clutch to my TTR and replaced the Gunk that a previous owner has used with a proper Gasket. At the end of a long Distance Trial I discovered that the bike had dumped most of its oil. During remedial surgery I noticed that on both the clutch casing and the engine casing there is evidence of a ver...
My bike wasn't started for a while now, I did a carb cleanup and replaced the fuelling issue, but now it feels like it doesn't suck air in but the exhaust side works, can this be a valve being stuck? Or a timing chain issue? I don't want to open the engine, it's hard to find the gaskets here
Got out again today on the TTR, 160kms around the Adelaide hills dirt roads along with the odd summer track. Not nice weather with a high of 15c & showers, dressed for it & was dry & warm. The TTR feels great, still have to take it easy with my hand which I may add is bloody painful, I am hoping ri...
From April 2020 ALL new motorbikes / scooters in New Zealand must have ABS... I think there will be quite a few duel sports that will no longer be imported... DR650 for one.. ..
Two parts to this. I laid my bike down and cracked my gas tank and need to replace it. So I'm looking to purchase one if anyone has one available. On a side note, I had considered trying to repair it myself using JB Weld or some form of plastic welding, but I'm hearing that it can be tricky, especially on gas t...
Put rego on the TTR this morning & took her out, didn't want to over do it so I did around 60-70kms. Was good to be out on the TTR & first ride for two months. The TTR is a little easier on my body than the WRR & at least I can pull the clutch in on the TTR I also changed the gearing back to stock & it...
Some of the text here is a straight copy from my "modernising" thread but I am aware that different owners will look at different threads so please be patient with the repeated info. I have just finished a long restoration project on a dead standard blue 2003 TTR that hasn't been on the road f...

Hi all, I'm looking for clarification please. I've read in a few posts in here that the top piston ring is the ring with the marking. As I see it the only ring that will have a certain orientation, and thus require marking, is the scraper ring - because it's important what way the taper faces. However the T...
