US model headlight bulb problems

I have had little luck finding a replacement headlight bulb for the '00 US TTR. The local dealer *may* be able to get one in a few months for about $65 each - seriously? I have a Polisport Halo that I intend to fit at some point but I wanted to repair the existing setup for simplicity. Well... this is what I did instead - hopefully someone will find this useful:

OEM bulb on the left, Amazon/eBay/Alibaba special on the right

They have some similarities despite the base flange differences

China bulb fits nicely and aligns with the receptacle

Modify a spring to surround bulb and open it's radius on one end

Spring on bulb

Large end of spring rests in bulb receptacle

Bulb flange 'floats' between new spring and bulb socket spring when socket in normal position

Reassemble and switch light on

After 20 minutes of riding, the bulb still works

That's definitely the one I'm looking for. I can't seem to find it in the US. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC can eventually get it for about $30. I've been waiting on a crankcase relief valve from them for weeks now with no ETA in sight. It seems like this bulb would be on the shelf at every dealership in the world. I can't imagine that it only fits blue TTR250s. Local Yamaha dealer has never seen this part before. My next course of action will be to order from abroad or just replace the entire assembly with something further from extinction.

JOHNBOY,

I'd be thrilled to order parts from ttrsteve and support the community in any way I can. Cost is a secondary concern over practical convenience. It makes no sense for me to order parts from the UK or Australia if they are readily available to me in the US. This bulb may be an exception and I would gladly work with overseas vendors as long as they are willing to ship to the US and deal with packaging, import, currency exchange, and payment hassles.

The above garbage is more or less an experiment and I doubt that I will keep it like this very long.

*Update*

On the sound advice of mossproof and JOHNBOY, the correct headlight bulb has been ordered from totallyttrs.com. With shipping to the US and lead time of 5-10 days the order total for 1 bulb delivered was less than $18 USD (in case anyone is curious). The site has a user-friendly interface and I would also recommend using this vendor.

Good result. I reckon its easy to get stuff posted as long as you are not in a hurry.
I have had stuff delivered in 24 hours from China and US but it takes 5 days for mail to go half way across our state!!
