Pretty much all of the powder coat has chipped off my outer engine casings, and was wondering if this could be a symptom of something more serious, like overheating or fatigue? If I cleaned and polished up the alloy would it be durable enough for the vigors of offroading, or am I going to need to paint/po...

White TTr 250 (Gold Wheels) 4GY model, Imported in 2000. I've had the bike since 2002, used for green lanes and back road ride outs. It's been stood since 2006 after buying a project house and it doesn't look like I'll get the chance to use it any time soon so it's up for sale. It's in average condition, wit...
Miserable weather in Devon (UK) today and guess who was out riding in it! It was the monthly Devon TRF Group meeting at the Dolphin pub in Bovey Tracey this evening. Occasionally one of the members, Roger, organises trail rides starting at the Dolphin. Roger (KTM250EXC) invited me along to today’s ru...
Just thought I'd share this with the good people of the forum. It gave me a giggle. My mate decided that he wanted to learn how to weld. Being the genius he is thought he could just buy a welder and that's it, he can weld. After getting his new welder home he was unable to get it to work. He phoned the guy he boug...
Since I've ditched the idea of a restoration in favour of a custom job, it's time to sacrifice the digi clock to the TTR gods. Digital speedo clock - fully working and cosmetically very good. Open to offers, although a swap for other parts would be preferred. (I'm prepared to send first via recorded pos...
As the title suggests...i'm looking for a chain guard...the bottom part of mine is damaged and causing a 'rub' on the tyre wall...noisy and rather annoying! Many thanks in advance..
Hi all, Anyone know whether the 95 Australian model had electric start or just kick? Are the kickstarters known for shaft breaks? is it easy to fit electric starter kit and where from? Mike

4 of us (myself, brother Trev - TTR250, Olly Cooke - WR250R and Rik Lennard - KTM250 4T) took advantage of a gap in the rain for a trail ride and I am very very glad we went out. Great weather and the lanes absolutely tip top - the roads and lanes between Tedburn and Winkleigh were running with water It seem...
Hi all I have a blue 02. It won't start on the kick starter. It will return when I kick it & I can hear whirling inside but there is no great resistance when I kick. Is it engaging? Is it slipping? How does it work? Where should I look for further info? (I've had a look at the FAQ but that's for installing a k...
Last time I was out of my TTr (last year I am afraid to admit) I was being followed by a guy who used to work for Geraint Jones and at the UK Yamaha Off Road School. He observed that that my control would improve with a firmer front end. He said that at the Yam School they had some discs of 10mm thickness machi...
Well went out on the weekend with a few mates and they sorted of mentioned that their bike is more set-up for off road. Now I know I have experience and I noticed the semi tyres I had wern't off road friendly. But after falling off like every five minutes and trailing behind while my mates had to stop a...

I'm in Victoria, Australia. I’ve got a 2007 TTR250 that I bought second hand and I’ve had since late 2010. I bought it specifically to pursue my (humble) rallye racing dreams and competed in the 2011 Condo 750 on it. Since then I’ve only used it sporadically, for trailriding and non-competitive ralli...
While we are on the subject of decals I will be needing a decal set for my bike as in the picture below if anyone can recommend anywhere to have them made up or buy them. The colour scheme is slightly different to the more common purple ttr's which decals can be found on eBay but they don't do them in the colou...
No, it's not a kinky question but a genuine enquiry! Riding home tonight with the first gale of the season doing its best to unseat me and the rain coming in horizontal my mind turned to riding gear and to what is the ideal waterproof clothing to wear on the bike. I have been messing about with bikes on and o...
