Wet lanes and even wetter weather!

Miserable weather in Devon (UK) today and guess who was out riding in it!

It was the monthly Devon TRF Group meeting at the Dolphin pub in Bovey Tracey this evening. Occasionally one of the members, Roger, organises trail rides starting at the Dolphin. Roger (KTM250EXC) invited me along to today’s run along with Chris (Honda CRF250X), Jackie (CRF230) and Simon aka Chancey on this forum (TTR325) .

We started at 10am in pouring rain and I was soaked through before the first lane so it couldn’t get any worse! The rain didn’t let up all day but the lanes were brilliant. It has been many years since I have ridden the lanes south of Bovey Tracey and down towards Totnes and they didn't disappoint. Some of the lanes were very “technical” - pity they aren't a bit closer to home.

Sadly Rogers KTM sipped some water in a deep puddle and a rattle immediately developed. Could have been a coincidence but his motor gave up later and I towed him to the nearest village (Bickington) where Chris picked us up in the van.

Altogether an excellent day’s riding despite the horrible weather! It was also good to ride with Chancey - two TTR325s on a run together and both ran like clockwork wink

Sorry no pics - the camera got soaked in the top pocket of my riding jacket and its best not to switch it on until it is dried out.

Respect to that man and his foolhardy accomplices

Whilst Liz and I were walking the dog in the rain (briefly) I mentioned that "the lanes would be very interesting and a tad damp on a day such as this."

Liz said that she bet there'd be "nobody out in weather like this - other than dog walkers."

I replied someting to the effect of there being some "mad" trailers who think this weather to be superb.

I said nothing about my deep thoughts that I knew who they would be. ashamed

I hope the Hampster's bike isn't too damaged.

Martyn

A tip on walking the dogs in pouring rain from a clever chap we came across yesterday - take the car and let the dogs run ahead wink

You just reminded me that I have a kitbag full of soaking wet and muddy gear I just threw into the garge last night when we got back from the pub cry

Well, it was pretty late.....
