Free defence against Malware & viruses ''Link scanners''

Hello all,

Just thought i would share some of the free anti-virus & link scanner programs available to people. I have tried many different programs in the past but none that come close to this combination for browser speed & protection against virus & malware attacks.

Some link scanners either are not compatible with each other or antivirus or slows the browsing speed too much cry

This is what i have found to be the best combination for browsing speed while still maintaining security.

It works well also although browsing speed slows a little. All in all good though.

I rang microsoft & they reccommended Norton or Kaspersky. They did say Microsoft Security Essentials works okay though.

Avira & Avast have automatic updates & are simple to use. They also have the highest rating along with AVG with  Microsoft Security Essentials coming about 4th.

The best thing about running a link scanner program like  Norton Safe Web LiteLite Arrow or & home-rr-annotation-ico.gif is that it scans links & tells you how trustworthy they are before clicking on them. Awesome as!!

It would'nt matter what antivirus your running as these link scanners should be compatible with just about any anti-virus program.

I like life to be simple and run Microsoft Security Essentials on our PCs and laptops (they all run Windows) and not been caught out yet - touch wood.

Automatic updates and the scan is quick.

My hope is that Microsoft will be quick to guard against nasties to protect their reputation - such as it is.

I run Kaspersky Internet Security 12.0.0.374, it's the best around, not a resourse hog and has the below

Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) brings together millions of users worldwide to detect new threats quickly and determine the reputation of programs and websites. With your consent, information about attempts to infect your computer and suspicious program activity is sent to Kaspersky Lab. This information is immediately processed by the automated expert system and in just 40 seconds data on newly emerging threats and their sources become available to all users of Kaspersky Lab products. A detailed description of the technology involved can be found at: www.securelist.com.

Another handy thing is identyfying programs and user ratings etc...

The other thing that works great for clean up,checking start-up programs,un-installing,ect. is Ccleaner CCleaner is the number-one tool for cleaning your Windows PC. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure. Easy to use and a small, fast download.

Oh i made this thread more for link scanners than antivirus. Most antivirus programs come with them but it's good to verify  it with other link scanners.
Also some sites have'nt been tested by a certain program but if you have two link scanners the chances of finding sites that have been tested is greater.
..........................

It was more about what link scanners are compatible & fast when used with each other & with what anti-virus program. Still good info though & i do like Kaspersky

It's more so the below does'nt happen when clicking on ''links''. (which can happen even with the best anti-virus available)
Example: www.trojan.virus@computer-now-needs-re-formating.com cryashamed hmmnofurious
The first time i posted the example in the line above it made a bad link & i had to unlink it furious But Mcafee site advisor comes up & says WHOOA, YOU SURE YOU WANT TO GO THERE???

Ccleaner is a handy piece of kit too. Very good for driver conflicts and removing damaged files.

Here's another great free program for uninstalling stubborn programs or virus's & has great easy clean up access aswell as unrecoverable delete.

It's called Revo unininstaller

VS Revo Group

It has been very usefull in removing viruses ect in the past & a very handy tool all round.
