Hi Fellow TTR fans, I am reluctantly selling my 2004 Reg TTR 250. This bike has been fully rebuilt by Steve Attfield proprietor of the Totally TTR shop and website. There is an amazingly detailed blog by Steve on how he rebuilt this bike, go to the forum and look under Projects and Restorations, then go t...

I am going to try and rebuild a carb to run and look as close as possible to new as I can. I am already into it 2-3 hours so it's gonna be a long job! The finishing touch will be to re-plate the rusty steel parts and get the same colour as on a new carb using the Zinc/Nickel Plating Kit from Gateros Plating. These...
Hi Folks, I've owned my TTR Raid for a for a few years and only just found this forum .. probably because it never goes wrong! Great wee bike and I run it alongside my Africa Twin. A great combination. Mike

I have owned a lot of bikes through my 45 years of riding, but I have never seen one go up in RPMs so fast after 50 mph. I don't have a tach on it, but the bike feels like it's about 2500 rpms at 50 mph, and 5000 rpms at 60 mph. Why would there be that much difference? I have ordered a 48 rear sprocket and hopef...
Not ridden the TTR for a while ( WRR has been getting all the attt. ) going to put rego on the TTR tomorrow & take her out. Looks way too clean to get dirty, what you think Will post up some photos tomorrow when I get home Cheers Terry
Hi all!!! Just bought my first TT250R - actually my very first Yamaha, a 98 white model with 57000 km and I love it since the first time I ride. We already had our issues (the voltage regulator was broken and couldn't make the 100km trip from the dealership to my home, in Lisboa) but I'm into a long and hopef...
I JUST BOUGHT a 2005 ttr 250, thoroughly neglected and confused, my goal is to turn it into a legal road bike for dirt road back country trips. Looking good so far. Great forum here, lots of helpful hints and resources to cut to. Love it. Mike Michael D Hansen, real estate broker
I rode my new to me TTR250 yesterday after riding my crf450x and I noticed it felt really cramped on the TTR. After checking, the footpegs on the TTR are at least 3-4" higher than the bottom of the bike. Is that normal, or did someone short put these on?
Gday guys, Forgive me for my lack of mechanical apptitude. I have a leaking head gasket, very small and slow leak. I am going to take my bike to the mechanics to get that repaired, my bike runs sweet and has 6500 kilometres. Would it be worth getting a new piston and ring done when the head is off?
So it doesn't matter about spacing the rings after all. To someone who has rebuilt an engine and then had sufficient doubts to strip it out to check the spacings, all I can say is that I wish I had known earlier!"Staggering ring gaps when installing pistons is every bit as daft as having four tyres fitte...
Greetings all, Its been a while since I posted, thanks to all who've helped me along the way... After a year working on my restoration of a 2001 ttr250 (slowed down by military deployment) I'm getting close to completion. The bike was vet (family) owned and had less than 600 miles on it then was stored (w...

One reason I decided to prep a Yamaha ttr250 for the backroads of the NW USA was lack of quality gas I often encountered while riding my KTM 500. I carried octane booster for the 500 and so far I don't think the engine has suffered, but for sure 87 octane fuel runs like crap in the KTM. I am hoping the ttr2...
I happened to use the TTR to commute to work early one morning (about 5 am--dark) last week and I noticed that the header pipe got a pretty bright red while warming up with the choke on. After easing off the choke and riding the bike with normal throttle, I leaned over and saw that the exhaust header conti...
OK IMA JUST SPIT IT IM THINKING ABOUT INJECTING NITROUS INTO THE TTR I BELIVE THIS BIKE WAS EAGERLY BUILT BY YAMAHA FOR THIS EXACT REASON THEIR ARE 2 PORTS YOU CAN CLEARLY INJECT SOMETHING INTO THIS PIG AND THATS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CARB AND THE TOP OF THE SECOND INTAKE PIPE WHERE THE SMOG BULL**** IS IM...
Went out on the WRR yesterday, rode up the the trials for a look, boy what a wild day, took a couple of photos Just to prove we do get rain !!!! LOL Might put rego on the TTR in a few weeks & get back out on the old girl Cheers Terry
5 minutes into my ride I made the mistake of trying to ride between an atv's mud ruts. Slid into a foot (30.48 cm) deep rut of wet muddy clay. Took about 45 mins to get out.
Hey guys my fuel tank cap is seized I'm not sure if its rusted to the tank or if the locking mechanism on the cap is seized i can turn the cap with some effort but if i put the key in and and try to turn it just risks breaking the key the tank. It has been empty and off the bike for awhile since ive been doing repair...
