The link is to my other home, wilddog adventure forum in South Africa. It is a ride report of my trip to the inlaws' farm. Sorry for the Afrikaans. Translated text:
My father-in-law has a farm just outside Groenrivier Mond in the Northern Cape, South Africa. I took my TTR this Christmas holidays and went riding there for the first time. The farm is enormous and full of jeep tracks through the veld. Due to the wind, the paths were swept smooth again each day. I was in heaven riding around the farm. One knows about the drought in Namakwaland and the farmers who struggle, but it was sad to see just how dry it is.
Another bucket list item was to ride back to Cape Town via the coastal roads, +/- 550km of which half was dirt roads/tracks. This was mostly sand paths just above the high tide line. Unfortunately I had to do 250km on tar for the last section home.
The TTR proved itself as a very handy bike. Unfortunately, 80km/h was my top speed with a constant head wind. The Tubliss I fitted the previous week worked very well. No flats or bent rims.
Next mission is to do the trip in reverse and go all the way into Namibia.
