this is the bike I've been restoring coming back together. I just finished rebuilding the engine and put everything back on the bike. The first firing attempt will be happening days from now. Very excited.
Anyway, the crankcase has new bearings and seals, I honed the cylinder and put in a fresh piston, rings, new clutch, timing chain and sprockets. It has all new valve components and I gave it a semi paint job/rust treatment. I still have a lot of work to do, but I'm very looking forward to starting the break in process and moving on to simpler tasks.
Always an exciting moment, starting your TTR after such a rebuild!
Don't forget to turn it over until oil spurts out the bleed screw hole before starting it for real. This will give the chance to make sure the oil is circulating
No, that's the decompression plug retaining bolt. The oil bleeder is just above the oil filter housing. 10mm head. Visible on the first pic in this thread:
Don't overtighten it when you do it up - they're not strong! Spin the engine over with the plug cap off to avoid inadvertent starting before you're ready.
I have a mystery wire I'm unsure about if anyone's got a guess. It's spliced onto the black battery lead right next to the battery. Should there be a (-) running to the starter motor?
