Hello knowledgeable peeps I have just discovered the base gasket under the barrel is leaking oil - only very slight but sadly it is none the less. I say sadly, but what an excuse to finally pull apart and rebuild a motor (top end), and accidentally make it a 263 while I'm at it. Question for you all, I noti...
Allen here having just purchased Pete's blue ttr. I think Diggermanbob got fed up with me rumbling on about what bike to get next so it is all his fault. I used to service one for a mechanical numpty of a friend and we used one for the night stages of the D2D once so I am kind of aware just how versatile they are...
Hi everyone! It's been way too many years since my last dual-sport thumper, a WR250R - previously had TE/SM610, DR650, DRZ400e, MZ 660 Baghira SM, DR200SE, XT350 (in Cape Town, South Africa) and XT225 Serow, with various sport and touring bikes in between. Was riding moto-trials last few years, and...

On 16th July I set off from Totnes, Devon on my 1993 Yamaha TTR 250 as part of the Mongol Rally. My friend, Rory bought a TTR from the same year especially for the trip too. Joined by 331 other vehicles (321 of which are small cars with around a 1 litre engine), we did a lap of Goodwood Motor Circuit near Brig...

I've done a search and can't see anything close to what I want to do so has anyone removed this ugly black number plate holder on the later model blue TTR's and replaced it with a bracket of some kind so that the plate sits right up under the tip of the blue guard itself with a tiny light on top.

I am going to try and rebuild a carb to run and look as close as possible to new as I can. I am already into it 2-3 hours so it's gonna be a long job! The finishing touch will be to re-plate the rusty steel parts and get the same colour as on a new carb using the Zinc/Nickel Plating Kit from Gateros Plating. These...

I have owned a lot of bikes through my 45 years of riding, but I have never seen one go up in RPMs so fast after 50 mph. I don't have a tach on it, but the bike feels like it's about 2500 rpms at 50 mph, and 5000 rpms at 60 mph. Why would there be that much difference? I have ordered a 48 rear sprocket and hopef...

Hi all!!! Just bought my first TT250R - actually my very first Yamaha, a 98 white model with 57000 km and I love it since the first time I ride. We already had our issues (the voltage regulator was broken and couldn't make the 100km trip from the dealership to my home, in Lisboa) but I'm into a long and hopef...
I JUST BOUGHT a 2005 ttr 250, thoroughly neglected and confused, my goal is to turn it into a legal road bike for dirt road back country trips. Looking good so far. Great forum here, lots of helpful hints and resources to cut to. Love it. Mike Michael D Hansen, real estate broker
I rode my new to me TTR250 yesterday after riding my crf450x and I noticed it felt really cramped on the TTR. After checking, the footpegs on the TTR are at least 3-4" higher than the bottom of the bike. Is that normal, or did someone short put these on?
