Hi Boof, how did you get a H4 bulb to fit? I'd like to fit a HID to mine, but I can't find one to fit.

I replaced my dash warning lights with the same as Brians and they are much brighter. Only wish the would make a LED headlight bulb thats as bright or brighter than the Austrailian headlights.

i searched on ebay for H4 hi low motorcycle .and found an led bulb for $28.00 delivered . it fiited ok super bright may not be legal but a great light at night and realy good as a day running light and only rated at 15watts .

it has a colling fan that sounds out of place on the ttr its done about 40 hours and going strong

A pair of cheap eBay spotlights might be the way to go? See here for an example.

Found the one I've got in my ttr and realy happy with it I've noticed there are some 18w ones now .

Thnx ttboof , i will look into that LED headlight bulb. Did ypu ever put a switch on your headlight. I seen your other post with 70,000km on the ttr with nothing inside the motor touch. Last thing i would ever want to do is replace the stator. Bike shop would prob want $500 and i havnt the tools or knowledge to do it.

no troubles with the stator always run the light , my last ttr did 70k this ones only got 30k on it before that I had a tt250 it did 70k no worries and an XT 550 I rebuilt at 50000 just to be sure , before a round Australia trip it did 100.000 ks before I was hit by a car which sort of stuffed it at me .

but with the head light a measly 15 watt and the stop tail only 5 watts , im able to easily run a set of 20watt grip heaters . with the stator they do seem to fail but its a small % . with the stators regular oil changes help as the oil doesn't break down. its the contaminants it picks up mainly carbon and it becomes acidic which I think is the main enemy of stators in any engine it attacks the insulation over a period of time just my opinion from years as an auto electrician

the led head light bulb fits ok fitting the rubber is a bit fiddly but once done fits well the only thing with them they are designed as off road so the focus isn't correct for on road I have a mate using them in his Ducati with no problems he does a heap of night riding , the best thing with mine is its really hi vis through the day and easily seen in the bush by any (rare) oncoming traffic

I will see if I can get a pic of it fitted when I get down to the shed later

I fitted 3 LED warning lights on my 325, but the neutral light glows dimly all the time (only when the engine is running) Bright when in neutral (engine on or off) Weird. I presume it's something to do with the way the neutral switch and starter inhibitor interact. Have tried a new switch - no change. It does glow brighter when wet but I can see no oddness in the wiring (dirt on switches, shorting plug/wires...) I keep meaning to rewire-in a normal bulb and take a closer look at it, but she starts, runs and stops so I put up with it for now.
Any suggestions?

there is a diode in the start circuit , that may be providing a small voltage differential across the bulb , i haven't measured it but it would be present on all ttrs but not obvious due to the comparatively large amount of power/voltage required to light an incandescent bulb .

so as you say other than a little annoying nothing to worry about , it may get brighter when wet due to the lower resistance between the neutral switch terminal and the switch body again only a small change is required to light an led .

That headlight modification might suit me as I only ride during daylight & our days are long enough even in winter, it's more I want to be seen not that I want to see.

I saw that Greg from RideADV is running a full LED headlight on the WRR, that might be an option as well, he uses a foam insert around the LED / front cowling

Thanks for the ideas Les. Next time I have the cowl apart I'll get the voltmeter out.

Terry I use a Cyclops led H4 replacement in a Baja Designs headlamp. It was expensive, but it does just about have a discernable beam pattern on dip. (Was offered a full refund if I wasn't happy by the UK importer) Needed some adjustment to get right (comes with a cardboard collar which you trim to suit the lens/reflector) Low amp draw, despite having a cooling fan on the back, and very bright. I guess the cheaper options would work for you fine if you're not worried about beam patterns.
