Hi folks, I have a bit of play in the rear suspension linkage. It looks like just 2 of the bushes. Measured at the rear axle to the mudguard it's about 4mm. I'm more than happy to replace the necessary parts, just wondering if I can expect zero movement once completed? Thanks in advance
Just a brief hello from me in North Yorkshire. I've just purchased a 1996 JDM TTR 250 Raid. which in MO is in bloody good nick. It doesn't look like it's seen any dirt with sod all scuffing on it. I'm going to pull it apart and give all the bearing a once over and regrease. The oil in the forks could well be...

Hello everyone. Finally I found a bike I wanted. It's arriving in few days. Things I will need to sort first is mirrors - the bike don't have any. As my budget is tight, Double Take is not an option, and perhaps not a necessity for now - mainly it will be thumping on paved roads. Anyone had good success w...
Hi all, not really a modification but fairly rare for a ttr250... My ttr250 came with a decompression lever etc but i removed it due to the fact it leaked. I would like to use my kick starter more often however its typically stated on here that it does not turn the engine over quick enough to be really eff...

Got the TTR out on Sunday for a ride in steep bush in Blackwood (Vic). Rode with a couple of blokes on new Beta 4 strokes, a 350 and a 450. Lots of technical single track and big hills and slippery clay . The TTR kept up no worries at all, actually outclimbed them a couple of times on the loose rocky hills...
I've just replaced the seals in my front forks on a TTR 250 Raid. When re-assembling, the instructions are to use 550mm of oil then adjust the level to 130mm from the top of the inner fork tube (fully compressed). However, it then took another 40mm of oil to reach this level - total 590mm. Is this because t...

Hi Everybody I bought a 1993 TT250R open enduro last year. It started using oil and smoking like a 2-stroke. I used a boroscope to inspect the cyclinder wall and found vertical scrathes. I think the previous owner allowed sand to drop-in when change the sparkplug. I believe that the cylinder needs to b...

Yamaha TTR250RThe Yamaha TTR250 was a stalwart of the Devon TRF scene for years, largely driven by the original TTR guru himself, Brian Sussex, who handed on the mantle to Steve Attfield a few years ago. I have just converted my 1997 TTR250 to a "Supermoto" .... It was relatively straightforward and CHEAP, once I figured out which wheels to use!For the rear, I fitted a DT125X (17" x 3.5"), which more or less bolted straight on! All it required was a slight modification to the TTR...
Hi, I have a 2005 TTR250TC. Was changing the oil today and when I got to the final step and opened the bleed bolt to test the oil pressure the bolt sheared off, leaving part of the shank in the threads. I was thinking of using something like an easy out bolt extractor to remove it, but wanted to see if anyone c...

Hi Tried to start the TTR for the first time in a few months. It turned over and started on the choke. Ran for a few seconds and stalled. It did this a couple more times before running a bit less rough. I switched it off, went and grabbed my jacket & helmet and then when I got back it did this? https://www...
Talking to a friend of mine the other day we discussed why the majority of bikes have cable operated clutches. He rides trials and his Montesa (Honda engine) has an hydraulic clutch and it is much lighter than a cable one even when we'll lubricated. Anyone any thoughts please?

Following prompting from Brian, I shall now attempt to give some help regarding changing the lock barrel on an OE fuel cap: 1: Give the whole cap a good soaking in penetrating oil to loosen up any dirt and rust 2: Undo the 2 screws that hold the locking mechanism in place, taking care to hold pressure on it...
The original front line on my '94 OE was bulging slightly under pressure near the bottom banjo so I ordered a replacement braided line from ebay listed as 'TTR250 1994 front brake line'. The first line that came through the post was a rear line which I returned and re-ordered a front. I've tried fitting...
