I only recently brought my TTR on a private sale, good clean bike but, it would only run on choke but the engine sounded ok so I brought it. I found it was so clean due to over pressure washing water and some sort of cleaner had got into the carb via the air box. I stripped and cleaned out the carb, drained clea...

I have a 2003 TTR 250 which seems to have an oil leak either from the "o" ring on the starter motor or somewhere close by. There also seems to have oil seeping out the grommet with 4 wires coming out of it, just in front of the front chain sprocket. Thank you Terry.
Royal Mail has now replaced “packet” rates with “Small”, “Medium” and “Large” parcels and increased their charges. The cheapest “Small” parcel cost is such that the p&p on many small & light items contributes to more than 50% of the cost! For the time being, we have removed the p&p amou...
Up for sale is this headlight I bought for my ttr as the original was very poor in the dark so I bought this one. I am 99% sure it is a polisport one, there is a bit of wiring loom connected to it so there is no need to cut the original wiring, I just slotted the spade connectors into the original plug then used so...
Hello all, I need a new surround for my TTR's headlight (don't ask!) However, Mine looks like this: But on eBay they are like this or this which are clearly different. So, which is the standard for this bike? Or should I just buy a generic light like this on TotallyTTRs? Does anyone have one of these? Have...
Good to meet some forum members last night - all TTR owners Some fairly local guys - Allen Morgan from Westhill, Dave Gunning from Rackenford and, the not so local, Adrian Marsden on holiday in sunny Devon all the way from Surrey Brian

Hi all, best wishes for the festive season and a happy new year to one and all. I have a question about a ttr that a friend of mine has and it is this, his bike is seems like it is snatching when driving slowly and there seems to be a roughness in the drive train almost as if it is missing and then catching again...
Hi All, Having had no problems with starting for the first few months my 2004 TTR 250 is now a reluctant starter. If I start on choke then doesn't like to be left on it for anything more than a minute before cutting out. Today was made worse because I had flat battery and had to kick start it. After sever...
It is with regret that I am forced to list my Yamaha TTR 250 for sale. It has been sat in my garage for a couple of years now with only occasional use to maintain it. This is due to two unfortunate injurys in August 2011 and August 2012 which have left me unfit to ride a bike for the forseeable future. This i...
I was out riding dirt about a week ago and I took a hill a little too steep for me. My boot slipped off the edge of the hill (small trail) and I tumbled down the edge, dropping the bike. I was fine but when I lifted my bike back upright I noticed that the gear shift lever had broken (right at the point where the le...

See here Aplologies for the short notice The Devon TRF Group run trail riding events. They are very much like a trail ride with lots of tea drinking and bumping of gums. This is absolutely not a competitive event. Regarding the difficulty you will find nothing that you would not find on an average rid...
There's a decent TTR on offer at £1400 via Gumtree It's been well looked after and modded. It currently lives in Cambridge. There is a video on the Gumtree site which shows how readily it starts - very cold, frosty weather too. Martyn
Not been out for ages so a group of us arranged a nice easy ride over Salter Fell a 4 to 5 mile track 1000 ft asl. Its a good steady ride but today there were frequent snow drifts/gullys that were difficult to get the bikes through due to the depth of the snow, so it was not as easy ride as first thought. A...
Hello everyone, I just bought a 1993 TTR250 Open Enduro a couple of weeks ago after pining for one for nearly a year, the best desicion I ever made. 70MPG, my Honda Varadero 125 did 75mpg, enough power to give me an adrenaline rush when I open it up in fourth, I can't think of anything better than it. I was...
Hi, new to the forum and I have managed to get a puncture on the rear tyre.

Hi fellow TTR-ers, Possibly a stupid question, but what are the signs of petrol tap failure? After I've parked her up, I never turn off the petrol on my 4GY and it's usually fine... til last week when she peed petrol all over the floor and seems to have filled the sump with petrol too :-/ Do I need to rebui...
