Gear shift lever.

I was out riding dirt about a week ago and I took a hill a little too steep for me. My boot slipped off the edge of the hill (small trail) and I tumbled down the edge, dropping the bike. I was fine but when I lifted my bike back upright I noticed that the gear shift lever had broken (right at the point where the lever juts out for your foot) and I was left in the middle of nowhere with a very hard to shift gear lever. I got back fine, but I was wondering exactly how one would change a gear shift lever, and what size? Can I just super glue on something for a quick band-aid fix? It's just a little pain in the arse, but it still impeeds my riding.

it will only be one bolt that holds the gear lever on.

Just get a new one. It's not worth trying to glue something that is likely to get the same treatment again.

You can by folding ones if your bike doesnt have one already.
Ebay is your friend.

Also pays to take a spare with you when out trail riding, so buy two.

Along with a clutch lever, brake lever, 21" inner tube, cake, water, fags, phone, pasty,wd40, mars bar, etc.

Obviously all this is useless if you dont take the tools with you to fix the above.

The only sure way to repair it is to weld a new bit on.

New genuine Yamaha gear levers are expensive. £44.75 retail plus p&p from Fowlers.

If you are desperate send me a PM - we can do a new one posted for £30.50

I bet an aftermarket one for a yz or a wr would fit. Are you a betting man?

As far as WR or YZ is concerned, they are both shorter levers. This can be VERY annoying on a TTR because it jumps into Neutral when your foot did not mean to change or into the wrong gear. I have not found a lever from anything else that is long enough for the TTR.

If you don't mind it being short, by all means, try it, it will fit.

Thanks for the help.

I definitely have the tools to fix the bugger, but finding a lever might be prove to be difficult. I might just buck up and buy a new genuine one. Any ideas on sizing? Length ect..?
