I start up the bike, say, to take it out for a quick spin, when I pull the brake lever the back brake light does not turn on. When I press the brake pedal, still no luck. The back light must be dead then, right? Can a simple bulb replacement be done, What will I need? The ironic part is that I have another rear fe...

The Devon TRF Group held a new event at the weekend, the Axe to Exe (A2E), which was 2-day of guided trail riding in the East Devon area offered to TRF members nationwide. My brother Trev and I did some bike fettling on the previous Friday and then did a short trail ride. We stopped for occasional refresh...
Hi all, Thanks very much for the info on the flywheel puller. I finally got that off and went to replace the sprag clutch. Both idler gears and all bearings looked good. No broken teeth or anything, but after I got everything back together I tried to start it and got a really loud clunking sound. Now it do...
The TTR has been great except a couple of things I found which is no big deal but needed fixing. I cleaned the carb checked the cables and it still decided every so often to rev high even with the throttle closed and the slide seated properly. After inspection I have a split inlet rubber so I suspect thats t...

Hi just looking for confirmation from anyone in the know. Changing out my front drive sprocket, am I right in thinking its a left-handed thread? So turning it in a clockwise direction will undo it? Strangely enough I can't find confirmation in the yamaha workshop manual or the handbook or remember fr...
Hello all. I am trying to figure out what jets to get for my bike. The only mod done to the bike is an UNI air filter. I need a different pilot jet because it starves for fuel at idle to 1/8 throttle, however after 1/8 throttel the bike runs just fine. I am trying to find jets according to THIS topic. I am usin...
After my 1st carb removal and strip I'm pleased to report things are improved greatly. It's been so long waiting on non cojone freezing weather that I can't find my original post describing what I found. Briefly, some of the holes in the 'shield' round the needle were blocked possibly by dirt gettin...

Hi,I am currently riding my TTR250 named Shiva to Japan. I have already done the first 1000 miles on it and currently is in Sintra, Portugal. This information from this site was really helpful when I was prepping the bike for the trip. Though to be honest TTR250 is so good that it doesn't require much pre...
I have run out of spare speedo pickups for repairing. Most customers buy the pickups outright rather than take the exchange offer and therefore don't send back a unit for repair. If you have a duff sender unit surplus to requirements then I am happy to pay £12 (to include your postage) for one that has a s...

After having bash plates on my last 3 bikes I decided it was needed for the green laning on the TTR. I am off on Sunday for a play down the lanes and really needed a decent sump and engine protection so bought the TTR bash plate Brian supplies. Most bash plates I have fitted need some sort of modification or d...
This weeks MCN is worth a look. They took four 250cc trail bikes, to Eastern Europe and back, one of which was a TTR that all the testers liked and found nothing with it to dislike. Worth reading. Peter
Haven't picked it up yet, but have just committed to buy a hopefully reasonable TT250R. Hopefully the start of a beautiful relationship. I presently have a Kawasaki W650 road bike. -- Edited by TTRfan on Saturday 6th of April 2013 09:23:13 AM
