Having been asked how difficult it is to fit a new clutch cable, I took a few pics whilst fitting one to my latest project TTR and hope they may help someone. Standard genuine Yamaha cables available here. Longer cables to accommodate risers or high bars available here. First off is to remove the old cab...
Any ideas? I get cramp in my fore-finger after just a few minutes of technical clutching around, such as hopping logs, curbs, wheeling down from ledges, that sort of thing, I.e. when I'm practising my trials-y skills. I know I could use two fingers on the clutch but one feels more natural, due to when I r...
Years ago I before 0-ring chains I used to remove the chain wash it in paraffin and cook it up in 'linklife', hang up the warm chain over the tin as most used to run back, worked well. For the last few years I've used Chainsaw oil before each trip of say 100miles, often over oiling to let the surplus +dirt ru...

I just took these out of a carb that I put back to UK (blue) standard 147/50 jetting. The pilot jet is a 48 measuring 18mm long and 5mm wide - I am pretty sure its a standard Tekei/Yamaha part. It's too short for a Mikuni. The main jet is a 137.5 measuring 9mm long and 6mm wide. It looks like a Tekei (see here) a...

So a few days after if filled by bike with water (got it out now running) she started ticking. The cam chain doesnt have much play and is tight. and it starts right up so I dont think its the valves. But what do I know.. Just so many problems after she took in water
I just happen to have a new Hel hose in my pile of stuff "to do something with" so thought it might be interesting to compare it with the Vehill front hose. The next pic compares the fittings at the reservoir end: The Venhill hose has a plastic sleeve over the hose which adds stiffness where t...

Since I bought my TTR a couple of years ago it's been a bit spluttery cold and less pickup against my son's TTR, I have done the normal stuff x3 times or more. Then looking through the parts list Brian mentioned about pilot jets being difficult to clean, so I ordered up a couple of replacement jets a bit lar...
Replaces the standard plastic cover and allows you to see and clean around the front sprocket more easily. Also, helps stop the front sprocket clogging up. I have attached it to a sender mount for demonstration. It is only the cover and stainless steel fixing bolts that are offered for sale. £15 inc 1...
Hi everyone, another problem again. After my spirited riding at the MX track last month, the bike doesn't feel the same. At about half throttle, she develops a splutter which leads me to think about fuelling issues again. But I also noticed that the compression seems quite low, I can near e...
