Felt like a ride on the TTR today, where we now live is right on the edge of the hills, in fact the main road into the hills is at the end of our street. Nice sunny 24c day with blue skies so took the TTR on a road ride, D606 tyres at both ends still running 15PSI as I do on the dirt. Even on the D606's it was fun &...
I’ve lurked on the site for months and just joined. I’ve had a 2005 for about a year that I made street legal recently. Ive owned dozens of bikes and the TTR250 is one of my favorites. I completely disassembled it when I bought it to clean and relube everything. Replaced the seat cover and added new gr...
I was invited to join 2 of my friends from my Algeria trip, and 2 of their friends, to do a stretch of the Trans European Trail over 5 or so days at the start of October. Be rude not to! We met up in Buxton (Morrisons fuel station, which incidentally was not suffering from the fuel "shortage" that a large port...
Good evening, Looking for a bit of advice. After a ride I noticed a patch of oil on the exhaust side that had been seeping out. Checked the oil and all is fine there so its not losing a lot. Looks to me that the base gasket has gone. Dry side just showing its not all the way round. New base and head gasket set f...
I've always wanted a higher seat on the TTR. Although the original seat is lower and easier to put a foot down in technical situations, I feel a bit cramped and then tend to cramp in the legs during and after long rides on the TTR250. This doesn't happen on modern bikes I also ride. Anyway new seat is on a...
Hello all, A general question, how far dose the throttle slide have to move before contacting the accelerator pump lever arm. My slide is aprox 12mm open before reaching the arm which seems a bit much and defeats the object of a pump. Should I adjust the arm a little to make it open quicker. Cheers Bert.
Hello everyone, Just thought I'd introduce myself and more importantly show a few pictures of my bike. Seeing as that's what were all interested in. I have had my TTR OE for a while now but only recently had the time to get out on some proper trails. There are a few niggles on the bike so I will be posting a...
Hi, I ordered an all balls carb kit and a diaphragm for the accelerator pump from the marvellous Totally TTR's. My carb was dripping because some idiot( me ) put BP ultimate in it because the garage had just changed to E10 , So the rub is it was ultimate diesel So I stripped carb and replaced parts except f...

Hello Everyone, I am a new bloke on the forum and looking for a toolbox and tools for my recently bought 2004 TTR 250. Could anyone help me out? Cheers! Kind regards and safe ride! Gergely -- Edited by Gergely on Thursday 7th of October 2021 04:52:26 PM
Just thought I would say hi to all the other people playing with their ttr's. I have been doing some mods and will be doing more. I have had ktm's , husky's and pretty much everything out there but i still get the old trail bike out and really enjoy it. Front end just changed for a KYB set up.... now time for th...
Had a couple of hours spare so removed the muffler & engine pipe from the TTR, cleaned it up & gave it a polish. Was unsure if the gold colour would come back but after a short run it started to turn gold, looks heaps better, now if only the WRR pipe looked that good. I know there is no performance gai...
Sprayed with penetrating fluid tried ring spanner and hammer, tried knocking it round with cold chisel, not budging so far. Scared to end up with a much bigger problem.... Thanks in advance of any help. Cheers John
My brother owned this bike a few years ago and I didn’t have the money at the time when he came to sell it but heard it might be back up, managed to get a bit of a bargain and it’s sat in a barn since he sold out it so little has changed. The plan is service, new tyres and try for a mot. It’s needing a bit of tidying ar...
Sadly we don't see much written about the TTR250s in the press in recent years. I think they are unaware of how popular they still are and that they now have an almost cult following! I guess it's also because they aren't available new any more so Mr Yamaha isn't going to favour them with advertising if th...
Hi folks. Does anyone know if this rubber insert is a standard part of the Raid chain guard? I'm guessing the 52t rear sprocket is the cause of the wear, but unsure if it's a sacrificial part. Cheers -- Edited by Smedders on Wednesday 15th of September 2021 01:58:38 PM

It was time for me to lead a ride again in the hills around the North East of Adelaide in South Australia, this time it was on the TTR, we met at Cudlee Creek Cafe & headed off to the dirt, morning tea at Birdwood, lunch at Mt Pleasant & returned to Cudlee creek for a coffee. Ten bikes & just over 1...
Hi Everyone, Thought I’d throw in a couple of photos of my TTR in it’s “very clean” state, after being off the road for the Winter (here in the Southern Hemisphere) and ready to go for his annual Roadworthy Test for a Summer of riding.🤪🌞 You will notice quite a few accessories on him (HIS Number Plate cont...
Hi All, Although I love my 250 I am toying with doing the 350 conversion, however before I do I was wandering if anyone who has already done it was considering selling theirs?
I know this isn't relevant to most of you, but if you're curious about riding conditions in the western US fire season has been great in Oregon, and not bad in NorCal, until last week. The Walker Fire blew up last weekend and is at 50,000 acres and contained only by wind. 40,000 acres of timber, not a bun...
It's been a while but I got out on the TTR today, 16c & sunny after some morning rain. Was a joy to ride, I forgot how good the TTR is on dry weather roads & gravel roads. While 50% of Australia is on lockdown we are pretty lucky here in South Australia, just have to wear a mask in service stations / bak...
Hello. Recently my ttr250 burned the stator (probably the original). I bought an aftermarket one and installed it. The bike charges ok now but,it runs bad, misfires, bogs and when i release the throttle it bangs loud from the exhaust and spits fire. I re-installed the original to se and the bike runs o...
Morning gents, have acquired a oil leak from the generator cover just below the starter. Is this a straightforward job to replace the gasket, or will I need other parts, oil seals, etc, or special tools. If it's just a remove cover and replace I'll have a go at it. Thanks in advance.
