Accelerator pump arm.

Hello all,

A general question, how far dose the throttle slide have to move before contacting the accelerator pump lever arm.

My slide is aprox 12mm open before reaching the arm which seems a bit much and defeats the object of a pump.

Should I adjust the arm a little to make it open quicker.

Cheers Bert.

My carbs slides all move approx 10 -11 mm before contacting the pump lever.
I believe this to be normal. My interpretation is that the pump is only there to inject more fuel at large throttle openings at the point where the engine is not spinning fast enough yet to draw enough fuel by vacuum alone, allowing the bike to run leaner/more economically at moderate throttle use.
I would not modify anything unless it was clearly damaged/wrong!
