And so the questions start First air cooled bike, well, apart from an old TS100 many moons ago that I never even gave a second thought. Anyhoo, being air cooled should I switch off rather than idle for a prolonged period? Not that I sit for hours but whats the general consensus. Also, I'm hoping for a...
Recently bought a 2003 blue TTR off a forum member who has hung his boots up. I think he was sad to see the bike go but I am happy to give it a new home. The romance period was pretty short, however, as after the first ride I noticed that the bike was idling-high, i.e: not returning to a low idle after being warm...
Took the TTR out again today, using the TTR until the rego runs out next month & to keep the kms off the WRR. We did dirt roads, gravel roads, single track along side an old disused railway, janos had been asking me for a while to take him out there, the single track was deep soft sand with whoops, two thi...

Currently riding my ttr through Turkey and the starter motor seems to have developed a fault. It seems sluggish turning the engine over 2 or 3 times makes a clunk then stops. The bike started fine thus morning and this fault has only started today. The last time I tried a small amount of smoke appeared fr...
It's nearly time to splash out on a chain & sprocket set, but my TTR has had Takasago Excel rims fitted and I'm not sure if the hubs are still standard. Does anyone know what the PCD of a standard TTR sprocket is? Or let me know if the sprocket in the photo looks right, I guess not if the wavy brake disc isn...
I camped for a few days with the wife last weekend and took the 250 and 125. I've been spending all my garage time on the 125 lately, moding for an adult basically -- I'm down to the jets and settings in the 125's carb and getting a steady idle is driving me crazy. But the 250s are just boring old Mr. Reliabl...
Hello all again. My beloved TTR which i have spent days cleaning and servicing and vowed never to get dirty is wearing my patience. With no notice when the starter button is pressed all i hear is a buzzing noise from the starter, all was fine last time it was used, the battery shows 12.6V on a meter and conn...

translate google from polish. I have a refurbished engine in the workshop and a new carburettor. Is it possible that the fuel level may be bad in a new carburettor? I can not start kicking the starter. Thank you for your help
The cover is broken, the thing still on but doesn't look very trustworthy. Is there aftermarket or alternatively fitting parts from other models? Mine is a 2001. Google wasn't of much help sofar

HellO I have a 2003 TTR 5000 miles very little use from new. I had an oil leak dripping on the exhaust ...I have replaced the decompressor seal. It is not that. Would it be possible that the rings have gummed up and caused back pressure in the crankcase, that causing oil to leak through the head gasket? Th...
Hello all. I am new to the club but have had my TTR for about 8 years now. About three years ago some guys broke into my shed and ended up breaking the tank so that it could not be repaired. I have been looking for a stock tank ever since. Acerbis has one I believe, an aftermarket, but it stands out like a sore th...
I have spent a few days working on my mate Keith's Bantam which he bought in 1975 and never ran. It's in my workshop so I have been able to sort out quite a lot of jobs whilst Keith earns himself a living I cleaned the carb and, this afternoon, Keith brought around the cleaned out tank and some fuel and we sta...
i am having trouble cleaning the sub frame on the right side near the fender (see picture). Is there anyone who has found a way to get all of the mud and water out of this area. I don't want water to sit and rust the frame. Thanks
Hello team TTR Went for a ride last week for 4 days with my new bags on the ttr - I'll put up a trip report very soon. Long story short it went perfectly - except the exhaust side of the bike the bags got hotter than I'd like - hot enough to just start to melt one of my dry bags. I had some heat shields on the ex...

I was just wondering having read lots of posts on here to increase my learning curve, If these engines are well maintained what would be the highest mileage I could expect to achieve. ???? I have read that people put baggage on them and travel vast distances so they must be very reliable, I am asking as t...

OK, having spent loads of cash on my TTR and converting it to supermoto to use for getting to my fire station when I'm called out (retained fire fighter), I've decided that I'd probably kill myself trying to overtake a pensioner down the lanes between home and the station So it's just been sat in the bar...
Just fitted a set of Dunlop 606 front and rear along with 14/52 sprockets and a new chain as well, I cut the chain off at 110 links, that just gives me clearance with the rear shock mud guard and sets the axle back on number 5 on the snail cams INTRO I had full Michelin knobbies on before and the ride even on smo...
