Possible head gasket advice needed.

HellO

I have a 2003 TTR 5000 miles very little use from new.

I had an oil leak dripping on the exhaust ...I have replaced the decompressor seal. It is not that.

Would it be possible that the rings have gummed up and caused back pressure in the crankcase, that causing oil to leak through the head gasket?

The breather on the rocker cover is not blocked.

I am scratching my head. The bike starts and runs well otherwise

Thanks Scotty

Hi Scotty and welcome to the forum!

If the oil is leaking onto the exhaust where it bolts to the head then it's not the head gasket as that is below it.

If it is leaking onto the top of the header and i's not the decompressor plug then it could be the cam cover gasket.

It is very unusual for a TTR head gasket to blow and, if it did, I think you would have other symptoms.

Need more info wink

Brian

Excellent thank you
I have got to the stage where I have looked at it for so long I cannot decide whats going on.
The rocker cover gasket makes sense. It just looks dry ...then again it will only take a very small amount of oil to get the exhaust smoking.
I will clean it up or fit a new one.
Thank you.
