HELP... Gas Tank for 1999 TTR 250
Permalink

Hello all. I am new to the club but have had my TTR for about 8 years now. About three years ago some guys broke into my shed and ended up breaking the tank so that it could not be repaired. I have been looking for a stock tank ever since. Acerbis has one I believe, an aftermarket, but it stands out like a sore thumb... Red tank, blue bike. The cost is pretty high as well. Does anyone have a stock blue tank lying around for sale?? I can't afford a new one as it is about $700 in Canadian dollars... and the bike itself may only be worth perhaps $1200!! Please help a recreational rider get back out on the trails. I am located in the Toronto area in CANADA so I'm hoping for anything close by. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the TTR forum, Walt.

I hope you manage to source a replacement.

I can't say there are many blue tanks on the market, even here in the UK.

Was your bike uninsured? confuse

I believe XR250/400 tanks 1996 on fit. The 96 to 99's were white before they turned red in 2000. I've also seen white XR200 tanks (they might even be the same) fitted as well. I don't think its a straight bolt on but works with a little fiddling.
And they look like they are factory fitment too.

One of those shouldn't be too hard to find, certainly more common than a TTR tank, especially in North America.

Yes, was insured, but not for damages. Fire, theft, liability... wouldn't cover the damage.

Hi Walt and welcome to the forum!

Good luck with your hunt for a tank.

There are some options here and here.
