It was time for me to lead a ride again in the hills around the North East of Adelaide in South Australia, this time it was on the TTR, we met at Cudlee Creek Cafe & headed off to the dirt, morning tea at Birdwood, lunch at Mt Pleasant & returned to Cudlee creek for a coffee. Ten bikes & just over 1...
Hi Everyone, Thought I’d throw in a couple of photos of my TTR in it’s “very clean” state, after being off the road for the Winter (here in the Southern Hemisphere) and ready to go for his annual Roadworthy Test for a Summer of riding.🤪🌞 You will notice quite a few accessories on him (HIS Number Plate cont...
Hi All, Although I love my 250 I am toying with doing the 350 conversion, however before I do I was wandering if anyone who has already done it was considering selling theirs?
I know this isn't relevant to most of you, but if you're curious about riding conditions in the western US fire season has been great in Oregon, and not bad in NorCal, until last week. The Walker Fire blew up last weekend and is at 50,000 acres and contained only by wind. 40,000 acres of timber, not a bun...
It's been a while but I got out on the TTR today, 16c & sunny after some morning rain. Was a joy to ride, I forgot how good the TTR is on dry weather roads & gravel roads. While 50% of Australia is on lockdown we are pretty lucky here in South Australia, just have to wear a mask in service stations / bak...
Hello. Recently my ttr250 burned the stator (probably the original). I bought an aftermarket one and installed it. The bike charges ok now but,it runs bad, misfires, bogs and when i release the throttle it bangs loud from the exhaust and spits fire. I re-installed the original to se and the bike runs o...
Morning gents, have acquired a oil leak from the generator cover just below the starter. Is this a straightforward job to replace the gasket, or will I need other parts, oil seals, etc, or special tools. If it's just a remove cover and replace I'll have a go at it. Thanks in advance.
Hi all, discovered motorbikes in my 50s and looking at a dual sport. A 2005 TTR250 with about 3000 miles on it is up for sale in my area, road registered. I can find lots of off road info online but not much re on road. I'm about 5'9, 88kg, just wondering how they go at 55-60 mph for 30 or 40 minutes at a time (lik...
Hi! I recently had my engine siezed (at the motorway). It is now partialy stripped and it is obvious that the Conrod big end is stucked to the crankshaft. Also, at least one of the crankshaft bearings is affected (the crank can turn but it shows difficulty). Lastly, each one of the small camshafts caps (...
There is a Taiwanese manufacturing company selling our one way starter clutch assemblies on Ebay. The company is Frontier Motor. The price is incredible and they ship worldwide. I ordered one and it appears to be OEM quality. Does anyone have any knowledge about this company? https://www....
First of all, special thanks to Brian and members of this great forum for providing all of the comprehensive technical instructions to rebuild anything on the TT-R250, and most of all, to Steve at Totally TTRs.com for providing the specialty bits that made this project possible. My love for t...
I wanted to see if I could reduce the slope towards the tank on my Raid seat, while also getting some added padding and making it a little higher in the process. I'm 6 foot 3 (192 cm) and feel a bit cramped on the bike, especially as I keep sliding forward and down towards the tank. I have never liked a forward...
Just a quick note to say hi. Just bought a 94 Open Enduro from a nice chap in Leamington Spa, maybe some of you know him. Have’nt had a bike for ten years, so super chuffed! Previous was an XL600lmf, the TTR is about half the weight, with much quicker steering, which will lure me onto the green lanes soon......
Hi all. I have a 250 Raid model with digital speedo. Was working fine, it still lights up but does not now register any KM/h, it just reads zero. I have read through forum which has been a great help.At the sensor near front sprocket I am getting 5v on blue wire and about 4.7v on yellow wire. When I spin the w...

I've renamed this thread so that I've got a single place to put all my questions and updates about my 350 build. ~~~~~~~~~~ Making slow progress on my 350, got the top end of this morning and was peering in at the crank. Does this look like a normal amount of blueing that one might expect from the heating o...
I have purchased a second hand "Pro Circuit T4 muffler that needs to be repacked, and pipe bent to fit. Two questions 1) what's the best form of packing a) Blanket type or b) Fiber packing? 2) I live in Sydney Australia, and recommendations for a good muffle shop to put a couple of bends in the pipe to f...
I have a really nice TTR250 FMF Powercore 4 exhaust for sale here in Exeter, Devon, UK. It is quite loud and would probably need a decibel killer fitted to make it totally suitable for ear-sensitive trail run leaders! It is fitted with the pucca FMF Racing spark arrestor insert S9000 (screen type) whi...
Need some help. Just got this bike on a trade. 03. Rebuilt the carb using all new parts with STOCK jetting sizes. Bike runs bad lean no matter what I do. Even with the airbox off. Black plug. Sooty pipe. Black smoke. I'm not a carb newb. Pulled it back off three times now to check things ...
Here's a pic of my 2011 TTR250. It's a great bike but just recently after completely destroying the sump bolt I found myself with a big dilemma. As you can see by the pics below I really butchered the sump bolt when trying to loosen it - basically it'...
As the title suggests I have increased the power to weight ratio on the TTR, perhaps a bend of the truth a little. I've been really busy putting our house on the market, moving stuff & cleaning, painting etc. Well the house sold in a week & for 50g above what we wanted with the bonus I dropped from...
Got a used GYTR tailpipe. Are some tailpipes just a slip on with no clamp needed ? Looks as though there never as been any clamp. Its a nice snug fit with extra thick pipe on the tailpipe where it joins the header pipe. All mounts line up good. Is it as the word goes. ( A slip on ). -- Edited by Markvan on Wed...
