Hi all, I have a 93 oe with a few raid parts, which recently has had new pisyon rings, cam chain etc. Before i took the bike apart it was running 142/48 jetting and started reasonably well and idled perfectly. Since then i have "rebuilt" the carb using an all balls kits from the ttr shop. I tried to run the...

Hey there. So I noticed when I run my bike wide open/full throttle and then right after closing the throttle or even going half-throttle, my engine 'blips' and surges for about half a second before engine braking. I'm wondering if this is an issue with carb tuning. It's kinda annoying esp. when speedi...

These are the usual culprits! I have just stripped them out of a carb that has been standing unused for a long time. The float bowl gasket was hard and flattened. The diaphragm had fused to the carb body and had to be prised off plus the two small O rings by the diaphragm had seen better days. The carb wasn't...

As most of us have all known for years, barely twisting the throttle on a 250-450 race bike will make it launch hard. The same throttle response on a TTR is much smoother and less aggressive. For the first time the other day, I twisted it much farther and it flew from 40-70 mph with plenty of power le...

It is very difficult to remove/replace the choke with a standard spanner as there just isn't any room to turn it. I finally got motivated to grind down an old 12mm open-ended spanner to give some clearance and it works a treat

The page above came from a blue TTR manual and it's different to the instructions in the older TTRs' manual which, in step 4 (actually it's instruction 5 in the older manual), adds "and warm up the engine for several minutes" I am missing something here - why warm the engine up on the older TTRs? I am about...

Ok guys, new here So I'm sorry if this has been covered. I got my hands on an 04 blue 250 pretty much free in a trade as boot. It was bored .20 over and when they put it back together it wouldn't run. After I tore into it, ended up being bent exhaust valves. Got all that fixed. Then the carb was very dirty, and of c...

Thought it would be an interesting thread for everyone to post what Jets they are running along with any mods, exhausts and altitudes they are using. Mainly because there still seems to be a lot of different standard jets the TTRs run and it's unclear why? I've just fully rebuilt my bluey with the all ba...

I am currently rebuilding a 94 OE, amongst other things I found that the float valve wasn't closing properly. I have read the warnings about breaking the posts while trying to remove the float pin, so I was hesitant to try and remove the valve at first. After a bit of reading on the internet I found a tip to...

I just opened the air box intake, and cut 6 3/8" holes in the exhaust next to the main hole (stock muffler) to help reduce the restrictions in the bike. It ran very well before, and I'm wondering if I need to automatically richen the carb (hopefully with a needle clip adjustment) just because of this. ...

The bike has developed a bit of an issue today. It starts ok and idles with the choke off after warming up, without any problems. The trouble is anything more than 1/4 throttle and the revs don't rise and the engine splutters? It was dark and cold when this decided to happen, but luckily it happened just a...

I am going to try and rebuild a carb to run and look as close as possible to new as I can. I am already into it 2-3 hours so it's gonna be a long job! I stripped the carb today. Good news, I didn't break the float pin post. Bad news, the diaphragm is toast. Weird news, the pumper wouldn't have worked anyway.
