Hey Guys, I'm only a beginner dirt bike rider with a 2001 TTR 250 Dual Sport, and I've been riding for only a couple years (About 3) and have had three bikes in this time (First 2 had major problems so I couldn't get a decent ride out of em before they stalled and just wouldn't turn back on) My three bikes were...

Hey guys, my head gasket is leaking a bit from the front, not enough for it to run everywhere just enough to get it on the 2 top cooling fins. How bad is it? because i cant get it fixed until next week and was just curious if it's okay to keep riding to and from work? the oil level barely drops because it's not p...

Hi there, I have cleaned out my carb recently and replaced the spark plug because the bike kept stalling on idle. Now the engine idles erratically (doesn't stall) when warmed up, but now it is sputtering and backfires when i give it a bit of throttle. I am assuming this is a fuel/air mixture problem. I h...
Hi all wonder if anyone can help me out before I dismantle my front forks. When I am riding off road and the front wheel leaves the ground there is a load metallic clunk noise from the front forks. Sounds like the forks are bottoming out when retracting. When the weight is on the front and the forks compr...
Hi all, Fortunately stumbled across this forum! Anyway, a number of years ago I rode a TTR Raid for a week or so in Thailand. Had fantastic time, took some photos of the bike and in the photos I'd managed to cut out both make and model. Some years later I worked out it was a TTR, then a TTR Raid (from the headli...
Intro: Yearly work dept. biking challenge (previously IOM on C70's, Normandy on pedal mopeds, Whitby and back on 70's 2-strokers), this year is the off-road challenge - Peterborough to the Lakes, a day off-roading and ride back. I thought it was just me but I've been seeing lots of TTR 250s with the bubbling vinyl on their gas tanks. I have used four different types of vinyl and still had this issue. It appears that the 250 is more susceptible to gas fumes permeating the tank and bubbling the vinyl than any of the other bikes I've...
Started having this issue today https://youtu.be/neEksF5ntcs went to start the bike and it just made a noise so I pop the cover and ran into this issue. About three days ago I noticed some noticeable binding and hard starting and it kept getting worse I ju...
I thought I would share this simple air-box mod with other owners. I had previously tried (twice) to cut down the air duct/snorkel to gain performance. Both times I have had the same result. I tried various ways to do this on two different TTR's but had the same result both times. The problem with this...
Hi. I have a blue TTR 250, made in June 2010. I cant clearly ID form lots of websites which (exact) owners manual and servicing manual I need. I've looked at the Yamaha site and see manuals with extensions such as RC, Y etc. I know my bike is an A model based on the 2010 manufacture. Any help would be appreci...
So I was out with the TRF today and about halfway through the day the bike starts coughing and sputtering and then dies. Thinking it was lack of fuel I put it on reserve, I manage to get it going but then it still didn't run properly and died again. Got it home and looking round it I can't see anything obvious...
Hi all, the 2005 blue TTR i have has always had a problem in that when you get to 50 mph it starts to become unsteady with the front end becoming very twitchy and wobbling or weaving and does not inspire any confidence on the road. The 1996 OE that i have has never done this at any time whether fitted with road...
