(

)
(Preview)
Hi all, My 93 OE has had several regulator/rectifier failures over time. I have a kickstart as well so I continued using the bike while waiting for parts. Each time I've ignored this, the stator has failed and needed replacing or rewinding. When I got the bike the wiring loom had been thoroughly butc...

Ring gaps - staggering and gapping
(Preview)
So it doesn't matter about spacing the rings after all. To someone who has rebuilt an engine and then had sufficient doubts to strip it out to check the spacings, all I can say is that I wish I had known earlier! "Staggering ring gaps when installing pistons is every bit as daft as having four tyres fitte...

Swing arm bearing replacement

Replacing a rear shock absorber bump stop
(Preview)
Fitting a replacement bump stop can only be done after removing the shock absorber from the TTR. Clean the shock absorber as best you can to make it easier/nicer to work on. The first thing to be done to get at the bump stop is to remove the spring. I don't think there is any alternative to compressing the s...

I can't see how it comes apart. It looks as if it should prise open around the groove with a stanley knife but I don't want to fo...

Camshafts too tight?
(Preview)
I have heard of at least three instances from owners where they had stripped and re-assembled their cylinder heads only to find that, when the camshaft journal caps had been torqued down, the camshafts were so tight they wouldn't turn. No obvious reason could be seen or found and the culprit is usuall...
