Rear wheel Bearing/seal sizes
(Preview)
Ok so I need new rear wheel bearings & seals... found a sticky with the sizes... BUT... it says bearings 60X22 ????... Oil seals 28X47X7...????? Oil seal with a smaller OD than the bearing....can't be correct.. now none of my bearing books list a 22mm ID bearing... which would be close to 7/8"......

What's that noise...?
(Preview)
Hi I'm a couple of weeks into my trip to NZ from the UK, currently in Slovenia. Today I changed the oil / filter out and noticed a fair bit of swarf on the filter, about as much that would cover half a five pence piece.... it's definitely swarf and not powder, quite sizeable pieces. I've also got a bit of a noi...

The rear shock spring I am currently working on is 80/200 25cm long Has anyone used not a softer spring, but a slightly shorter one(23cm)??- which I am hoping, will reduce down the height slightly. (I am already using a lowering link) -- Edited by RodYorkttr on Monday 5th of June 2017 09:46:42 PM

The starter has been acting up for a while. Needing rocking in gear then would work. Took it apart and found sticky brushes. Now replaced from Steve. Quite a simple and worthwhile job. Slightly confusing is that the headlight is now brighter????

Oh oh - need some advice - threaded suspension yoke
(Preview)
Hey people I was servicing the rear linkage and when doing up the bottom shock yoke bolt it wouldn't tighten, pulled it out and out came the thread. I'm guessing its too thin to helicoil, and a longer bolt with a nut on the end would probably foul the suspension. There is no thread inside the yoke, its co...

The gas tank V/S vinyl

I thought it was just me but I've been seeing lots of TTR 250s with the bubbling vinyl on their gas tanks. I have used four different types of vinyl and still had this issue. It appears that the 250 is more susceptible to gas fumes permeating the tank and bubbling the vinyl than any of the other bikes I've...
