My original clocks are heavy and prone to getting smashed so here's may solution. A sheet of black nylon bolted to the standard mountings. Completely ditched the speedo drive that kept failing anyway, just kept the housing on the front axle, nothing inside it. Orange LEDs on L side are day and night indicators, button below them switches them. Day one is super bright as I constantly forget to turn them off - but not with this! Blue LED and indicator light are for switching high beam with a far brighter 16W LED mounted over the headlight. White ring push switch gives direct battery power to the onboard charger mounted on the headstock to power my phone based outdoor active sat nav. Green LED is neurtral. Mounting bolts are aviation titanium so the whole thing weighs virtually nothing and I've not broken it yet in the 2 years I've been running it.
GPS speedo is about £20 on Ebay and you need to paint around the screen joint and selotape over the charger cover or moisture will eventually get in and you'll lost characters on the screen. Very easy to read, does the basic functions of a speedo with trip, etc. Works really well, no delay in getting a reading and seems very accurate. Tried the magnet type for quite a few years and it's just not possible to make the magnets and cables lane proof. This one is much superior and twists off to take it in for charging, will last for 3-4 full day rides - or you could plumb it in to an onboard charger - but make sure the lead is totally sealed and water proof.
