Geoff Ballard's advice on setting up standard TTR250 forks for racing
Permalink

 Just seen this on FaceBook:

A lot of people have been asking about the TTR forks, here they are in all their glory! Today we are going to let you know how to set them up.
.
All we did back in the days on the TTR forks to win championships with Geoff Ballard, Jess Gardiner and Ben Burrell.
.
Fork oil 7.5wt at 125mm tube height, .42 to .43 fork springs (up from the stock .35kg/mm) and compression clickers set at 11 turns out.
.
Simple as that! Now head out and win some championships!

I'm pretty sure I'm running .48 springs FYI and I weigh 90 - 95 kg.     The stiffer springs hold the forks up so they don't sag and so are nice and plush but can take a big hit too.

" (up from the stock .35kg/mm)"???

Need some verification.

Race Tech lists the stock fork spring rate at .42 kg/mm.  Is this specific to US model?

US factory manual has our spring rate listed as .41kg/mm. Must of been specific for us hefty Yanks.

Previously posted article mentions rebound assemblies fitted to Ballard's fork:
