Decompression lever information

Hi all, not really a modification but fairly rare for a ttr250...

My ttr250 came with a decompression lever etc but i removed it due to the fact it leaked.

I would like to use my kick starter more often however its typically stated on here that it does not turn the engine over quick enough to be really effective.

I was thinking about my old xr400, it had a procedure that when followed would work first or occasionally 2nd kick most of the time. This involved using a decompressor to "prime" the engine easier before positioning at tdc.

That got me wondering if that method could be easily applied to the ttr to give it the best/largest kick possible and least effort for the user?

Maybe the methods wrong rather than mechanics as yamaha have done a good job (apart from the sprag) with the rest of the bike?

Mines a 350, nothing crazy to kick.

Any information on cable part numbers and the shafts seal would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

Can't help with part numbers .but agree the kick start on my ttr is all but useless. I keep it cable tied out of the way often think about removing the lever but might need it one day
