Do any of you guys run an Anderson plug on your bikes directly from the battery? If so where did you mount it?

I'm thinking of putting one on my TTR. Reason being to be able to trickle charge the bike with out removing the plastics.

Could also plug a mini jump starter pack in it or even a little 12v air compressor for those tyre repairs while out riding.

Also if all you're riding buddies had one on their bikes. You could take a short Anderson lead and use it to jump start from each others bikes.

Hi Lindsay

I had not heard of an Anderson plug until I read your post!

I use a similar plug made by Optimate on my three bikes (TTR, BSA A10, Kawasaki W800) to allow me to swap the Optimate battery charger between them in the winter to keep their batteries healthy. Saves having to take panels or seats off to clip terminals direct to the battery wink

My Slime mini air compressor has the same fitting biggrin

More info here

I use a SAE plug, I have a USB & charger that can plug straight in, also a SAE / USB with a volt meter...it is a common plug & much smaller than the Anderson plug, in fact one of my Triumph's came with it standard...if you need photos let me know

Terry

Those Anderson plugs are nice and robust. Really it comes down to whatever plug you want to use you then wire up all the accessories you need accordingly. Certainly good enough for jump starting a bike (even the small versions) Don't know if an SAE or fag lighter socket would be up to that? (Sorry to our American readers, I mean cigarette lighter socket )

Looks like you guys are all over this idea just with different style plugs.

I’ picked the Anderson plug because it’s the same set up I use on my Toyota Troopy.

I‘v also got many accessories with the Anderson plug on them that I could use for both vehicle’s.

I used to work in the Forklift industry & we used Anderson plugs all the time 350amp. 175amp & the small 50amp, bit of an overkill for a bike but if using already on the Toyota best to stick with it, only issue is finding space to fit it on the bike

Cheers Terry
