Hi All

I recently bought a TTR250 that was imported to Madagascar from Europe about 10 years ago. Before last week I knew nothing of TTR's. I noticed that mine has no indicator lights nor brackets to accommodate them. It does, however, have an indicator switch on the handlebar. 

I don't have any of the original booklets for the bike so all I can say is that it seems to be a 2006 model, has blue plastics and the more solid looking skid plate as apposed to the tubing I've seen on other TTR's. I'd say I have a blue version of the TTR pictured on the top left of this forum page. It also has the older analogue speedometer.

I have two questions:

1. does this model have a switch I can wire indicators to or do I need to install one?

2. Does this model typically have a brake signal cable running to the front brake lever or is it only the rear brake lever that has a signal cable?

Welcome to the forum JP!
Your bike looks well cared-for - some attention paid to the cooling fins and frame painted. Nice.
The analogue speedo is the later type. Pre 1999 had a digital speedo. Skid plate is non standard, but that's not a problem. Maybe CRD?

There should be two multiplugs for the indicator circuit to work - 1 behind the headlamp which the indicators plug in to (oh, and 4 individual plugs under the seat left hand side for the rear ones) and a plug under the tank for the flasher relay. I don't think the US models had these, but the Euro ones did.

There should be a switch on the front brake master cylinder, but yours does not look original to me so probably doesn't have one. Could maybe buy a hydraulically operated switch that replaces the banjo bolt in the master cylinder. (I think Steve sells them in the totallyttrs.com shop )

This is what you should look for behind the headlight. Similar bullet-style connectors, also with green and brown wires, can be found on on-US models under the seat and clipped to the rear subframe.

I couldn't have asked for a more helpful reply. Thanks a million. One question though. If there are no blinkers connected would the relay still click or not? Currently when i flick the turn signal switch nothing happens. No clicking.

I am pretty sure that the flasher would only click under load as it's a thermally operated device - see here

Have you had the seat and tank off yet to see what you have got underneath? Nice quick job and should give you lots of information wink

So I've had a look under the speedo and under the seat. I found some connectors that look like they are for turn signals but only two. Found nothing useful under the seat. Maybe hidden somewhere else.

Looks like you have the connectors for the indicators behind the headlight. Are they green and brown?

You should also have two black leads for earthing the indicators.

Your second photo is above the airbox, what's it looking like further back? You will need to look up under the rear mudguard. There should be a pair of wires running along each subframe rail to feed the left and right hand indicators.

I'll have to strip all the panels off. I'm sure the wires are somewhere. Hopefully not cut off. Since I have to remove the starter as well I can have a little weekend project next week.
