Unusual chain wear - any ideas please
Permalink

I fitted a new chain and sprockets from the guys at Totally TTRs  6'ish months ago, fair bit of green landing done since. Chain seems to be wearing on something, any pointers please? The remaining links also show signs of wear, but not as bad  as the link split pin.

It's unlikely to be the chain slider but check that anyways.

The most likely cause is where the chain runs through the lower chain guide. Check there for a problem. It may have taken a knock and is out of true or a small stone wedged in it.

I don't think the chain touches anywhere else that would rub on the outside of it.

It's probably worth getting in a spare split link from Steve if you haven't got one already.
