I discovered today that my one-and-only key has gone missing. I've disassembled the ignition and retrieved the code to get a new one cut. Can you tell me what blank they used for your new key? I saw somewhere that an Ilco YH51 will work, but it looks very long like the one in your photo. Does the extra length make it stick out from the ignition or does it fit flush?

Thank you!
Its sticks out, but works fine, just does not look as good as the original key (hence why i have a lanyard on original key)
The blank that was used, is a silca yh29???? Not sure if that is country specific, sounds like it may be going by ttrfans post.
Cheers
Added some pics.

Where are people getting an extra ignition key from? I rang my local Yamaha dealer today and he said they are no longer available from Yamaha Japan as a spare part. CAN YOU JUST TAKE EXISTING KEY TO A LOCKSMITH OR KEYCUTTER AND SEE IF THEY CAN MATCH? Yamaha part numbers were listed from an A at end of number to F ie 6 possibillities. Any help appreciated. Hi,
I’ve had a few Keys made for my TTR over the years, at the local Locksmith.
Their “blanks” seem to be longer than the original but if you tell them that if they are too long they can get bent when the steering is on full lock to the right, they can make them abit shorter.
The Locksmith Blanks seem to be very soft and are easy to bend so use them cautiously.
Cheers
