only looking in day light the stop an tail is poor to the standard bulb [ maybe should have gone for a bigger one] An the head light dip looks as good as standard the Hi looks far brighter in daylight now i allways ride daylight hi beam on anyway so i will take a spin out tonight an report on the after dark feedback on the headlight as i have read of problems with the beam pattern on them ie nice bright light but not lighting the road very well

Watching this thread with great interest!

I am guessing that, as the LEDs run cold, it would be possible to put in a much higher output bulb in the plastic lens headlight units.

Ok a spin around the town to my work place so I had a trip to compare the Led's to the standard bulbs dip is slightly better and the High beam is a vast improvement beam pattern seems ok but will have to put it up against the MOT light board at Treens to see if it will pass an MOT and if I will have to swap the bulb out come that time of year if not plus the bulb is making the dash Hi indicator light up all the time albeit dimly. as to the rear stop an tail this is a fail big time it's dim on the light an brake on is no better than just light on the standard bulb it needs a bigger one with more Led's on it.

I tried (in above photo ) these LED indicator bulbs. Bought two from China and also an LED indicator relay.  I found even with a LED bulb this big it was only about same brightness as standard bulbs.  More weight in the LED bulbs flapping around inside the indicator bulb sockets so i went back to standard. Im thinking CREE brand (or technolodgy) are the brightest LED bulbs.

£12 is nice price, just that little bit extra to help on way home from lanes in winter. Standard main beam is thorough crap I think, spread of beam is too wide and is better(brighter) to use dipped.

So was MOT day today not for the TTr but my 84 xr so took the TTr for a spin down there after the test on the xr an put it up to the light board an as suspected the light pattern is all over the place on low an Hi and it will not pass a Uk mot but it don't it half put out some light so will be sticking with it and just bulb swap for the Mot each time with the TTr. on a funny note the Xr past the test now that has no battery it has dip an Hi on a 35w bulb and the light don't reach the test board it comes out the light about 5 feet the just falls on the floor it's so weak till the motors hitting 5000rpm you don't want to ride it at night. so I will give a thumbs up for the Led if you want a working light that gets you seen night an day an don't mind blinding the od on coming car driver

Ive been running an led head light bulb for a couple of years the pattern is no way legal but is super bright and visible during the day

puts out heaps of light after dark but not very good for the oncomimg traffic end of day in a 1000acre padock its perfect a lot les near misses

I have used a couple of LED spots mounted on the bars and wired them through a switch which is wired through the high beam switch so they only work with the high beam or you can switch them off and run on the standard high beam for daytime running.

As they only work with the high beam switch they pass the MOT fine. There is a post on here, but I cannot for the life of me remember how to link itno If you search for 'fuse size and spotlight info' you should find it.

Haven't ridden the bike for over a year due to a change in circumstances and feeling a bit under the weather, but I hope the above helps.

Peter.

Nothing annoys me more when driving at night than oncoming traffic with badly adjusted or dazzling headlights. Not going to say any more 'cause I don't want to offend, and I understand the need for good vision at night, but my night vision is destroyed by an oncoming dazzler. Do as you would be done to.
Ride safe,
Simon.

If you have the blue TTR, i replaced my bulb with this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1WFC8W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

somewhere on the forum I gleaned this info on bulb types -maybe someone else can post a useful link to that area or try searching maybe?..

Also recently added a led aux light attached to the aftermarket handguard aluminium piece.
