Magura manufacture a kit to covert cable clutch to hydraulic. Its a bolt on kit, not super cheap.
I think if your clutch pull is heavy then the hydro unit will be lighter.
Haven't tried one personally.
Featherlight do teflon lined clutch cables. These reduce clutch pull significantly by reducing the friction of the cable.
Have tried these (not on a TTR) they are magic.
YEAH OR GET A UMMMMM STUNT CLUTCH LEVER ITS BUTTER SMOOTH BECAUSE IT HAS LIKE A INTERDUSTRIAL PLASTIC ARONDTHE BOLT WITH TEFLON ITS MADE BY RICHEOUS CLUTCHES
Talking to a friend of mine the other day we discussed why the majority of bikes have cable operated clutches. He rides trials and his Montesa (Honda engine) has an hydraulic clutch and it is much lighter than a cable one even when we'll lubricated.
Yes, i’ve just done it today! It’s not that light though because I’m still operating those heavy clutch springs, good modulation though. Not the magura kit, i did it myself and could make a bolt on kit if anyone is interested. It was hard to find a lever which didn’t foul on the light switch box. I think I could produce them for £130 with a bespoke clutch switch wire to plug onto the loom as long as i can get the right plug!
Mate of mine fitted a hyd kit to his WR450F, seemed pretty easy with just a slave cyl with a rod to the clutch arm & a master cyl. It is much lighter than a cable pull clutch
Gee, 130 quid !
When I bought my bike I squirted Cable Glide down all the cables and they are still silky smooth after 8 years !
Just tried the Clutch Lever, using two fingers - easy.
I’ve still got standard Clutch Springs so that could be the reason.
We are heading into Winter 🥶 down here so my ‘bike’s Registration/Road Tax goes into “Hold” mode for 4 months but that doesn’t stop a few sneaky rides around my favourite road route but “watch out for Mr. Plod” and there is no Insurance Cover.
The Wife rolls her eyes and shakes her head but at 69 years old, you have to start taking some “Life Risks” don’t you ?
😬
Jeff
How’s it going over there, Steve ?
Are you guys riding the Lanes of Devon again yet ?
What a dam tough Winter you had, hope you have emerged still sane.
I hear the Pubs can nearly have a full compliment of Drinkers 🍻 again.
Cheers
Jeff
