In no particular order...
Just some aluminium tube which was on the metal rack.
Not tried it yet. I'll report back when I have.
Not sure if it is a Kalahari. Got it off the cheep rail (£65) a couple of years ago. I just wear it green laning. Took the armour out and it fits nicely over my madmax suit. Vents open it's just about cool enough when it's warm and I'm having to work hard. OK in the rain and winter too. However, the front pockets can fill up with water and drown your phone.
After posting I turned some knurled nuts for the adjusting screws plus some large washers to spread the load on the screw heads.
I made it mainly because I'm considering doing some rides beyond my local Peak District. Perhaps the Pyrenees, so I thought a bit of weather protection might come in handy. Bigger tank next I think.

Well... It works. Lanes and roads yesterday set at the low position. Was stable at 55/60. Seemed to keep the wind off me. No turbulence. So far so good.
PS. Slots cut...
