Hi Everyone

I had a bit of a problem...............

Fitted a new mt43 on my bike, the gearing was 13/50 which I quite liked, not to much loss on the road and very good in the lanes. Well I could not get the 520 chain tight enough unless it was on the very last setting on the snail, so no room for tightening when the chain needs adjustmentcry 

Was ok with an enduro type tyre on, but not a mt43.

If it was on 7 or so the mt43 would rub on the swingarm and the chain would be to slack.

Had to order a 48 rear socket to restore clearance and leaving room for adjustment later.

Just thought I would share the experience, if you was thinking of trying to run the same combo!

Lot's of the TRF chaps like them surprisingly good in the mud and hard to beat on bedrock good all round tire for Devon's lanes

I can't understand how they could be good in mud. Wouldn't they clog the treads ?

Last a while I suppose. And you can use them on event days. Not v knobbly though are they, an army special probably better choice..

Yep they clog but work look what a full on trial's bike can tackle I favour the 644 army close to halfway between endure and trials tire mine is just coming up for need a new one at near 5000 miles but with just tarmac it would see 6000

Most people around us use MT43's. Love watching Simms hill attempts with knobblies.

Steve can't you just take a link out of the chain????

The MT43 offers fabulous grip and can stand a lot of roadwork run at pressures of 6lbs because of their crossply construction. Also, run at very low pressure they put down a big footprint and the distortion of the tyre where it meets the deck cleans the tread biggrin

Washabrook or Snapper on a knobbly - impossible wink

you will never ask that question again..

 

Very very very very very under rated tread patten..

the MT43 is not even a good trials tire... but they can

be used on the road with out melting..

 

But a knobbly with a tuBliss is another story at 0 - 3psi...

I favour a mt43, as nearly all the lanes near me that I ride are gnarly rocky lanes. I also like to do LDT's and they are a requirement for them.

I have put a tubliss in as well and looking forward to seeing how it performs.

Never been stuck in the mud with a mt43, close a couple of times, but never actually stuck.

Yeah enduro tyre would be wrecked quite quickly on the road at 6psi!

Trials tyre be good on wet rock too.

Doubt I would ever fit one though, think I would still plump for a army special.

In thick clay type mud would it really NOT clog even when distorted?..

Always ran mt43 on my XR, never struggled anywhere around here. Cracking tyre.

Kenda & MotoZ both do a trials/knobbly cross type of tyre now...
