As you can see I made a few extra holes to allow the bag to breathe (nothing to do with the bolts through the inner holes hitting the back of the clocks, honest) and the finished results look like this. Easy to do and quite a bit of extra storage, in fact this will be the ideal spot to charge my phone on the trip.
Been playing with the thought of doing this myself as my tail pack is full and have been lashing my Enduro tool belt on to the back of the bike as well and that is no light thing to have on you. I just cant bring my self to drill holes In the bike.
I was a bit the same pug, the thought of drilling holes in a decent headlight fairing was sort of an alien concept to me, but then I thought sod it and got on with it. Glad I did to be honest as it's nicely out of the way and right to hand at the same time. I'd say go for it as you can always pick up another headlight fairing if you decide you don't like it.
I'm liking the rack lot's as well been thinking about a trip on the ttr to France this year Just the D day beaches for about the 10th time but it's a nice trip for a week and about only 700 miles as am close to the port's down hear and if I can do it three times on a 54 year old Harley I no the TTr would take it no problem the rack would be nice...................
The rack is fantastic, is very well build and looks great as well. I would highly recommend it as I do tend to use it all the time for various things now.
While I haven't really used the optional side rails yet they could be useful for luggage, or, if you are as talented as me they do provide a handy crash bar for the rear end of the bike!
The plastic backer is just made from an old 5 gallon square plastic container side cut up I used a bit of alloy plate for the front and a bit on top of the rear guard as well and then HD hoop and hook to hold both plate to bike and bag to plate not lost front or rear bag yet
