Just been to my suspension guru John Gaskell at Revs Racing to have the WP usd forks rebuilt on a project CCM664 of mine and we were discussing pros and cons of usd vs conventional forks. He's of the opinion that Yamaha's conventional forks are as good in every way as the usds but would be improved by the fitting of racetech gold valves. I remember Brian posting a link once upon a time, but does anyone have any experience of them? Just wonder if I would notice any difference during day to day trail riding?
John was also of the opinion that the ttr's an all round better bike than the CCM as well, but we all knew that already!
I haven't tried the valves but a good suspension tuner can work wonders I suffer from short arms and deep pockets .
I changed up to 10W fork oil and fiddled with the damping adjusters with no air pressure (have to let out a bit of air regularly as it builds up a bit )
the result is great for average to hard trail riding but a bit harsh on sealed road
