Wiring up a power outlet?

I read on here a while back (but can't find it now) that there's an extra power supply that can be utilized out of the TTR Cdi box. I'm looking to hook up a cigar lighter style power outlet to my bike to use for an air pump, charging phone, helmet cam, etc. do any of u guys know what steps I should take to wire it up? If there's another way to do it without using the cdi's extra power source, I don't mind. As long as it will work properly and not drain my battery. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

If I was going to add an extra outlet I would take a split from the red wire that comes out of the main switch (Key Switch) and add a 12 volt x 1 amp inline fuse

then just ground the other end anywhere convenient on the frame

Here's a pic of an interesting outlet, a well made little unit, just buy a USB cigarette plug charger off ebay and dismantle it, add a plug and wires, there you go, 1  USB outlet

Buy a 2.1amp unit, they are only a couple of dollars from china

Wire it straight to the battery with an inline fuse close to the battery on the live .
This way you can use it without needing to leave the ignition on .
It will also guard against burning the bikes main fuse , best to leave the bikes electrics alone .

I've fitted one of these sockets on my TTR www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Continental-DIN-HELLA-12V-24V-15-AMP-Power-Socket-/180502774778
i have them on all my bikes. I took the live from the solenoid with a 2a fuse and the earth from the reg/rect earth bolt.
I have matching plugs on my Optimates, GPS, USB outlets etc .

I did this, it's been fine.

Here's another way to power your auxiliary socket, I bought a USB 12v socket, which has a blue LED glowing when it has power, so spliced from the brown (switched live) rather than the red (permanent live) wire from the ignition, so the socket is only live when the ignition is turned on.

ps. fused, of course! biggrin
