FMF Powercore 4 quiet mod.

My TTR came with a brand new FMF Powercore 4 in the box . I fitted it before i stripped the bike for a refresh and it was way to loud. For anyone else that has one and would like to make it quieter this db killer is the solution for little money.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201127038180  (it works out to just over £10)

Its a 2 stage baffle, you can fit it on it's own or fit it with the steel plug in the end to make it even quieter.

I did have to heat the perforated tube to put a slight bend in it, but only a few minutes work .

I did a similar mod to my GYTR tailpipe. It also was to loud. ( for my age ). It now has a similar note to a XR75 that had a bazzany ( or ???) tailpipe in the 70s.

I like Lambretta's, never owned on and probably never will. A good friend of mine has quite a few that are restored close to perfection, this is one of his GP200 electronic's

That scoot looks great! About £3K's worth I would guess.

I only have one pic of my old Lambrettas - a TV200 - not pretty but, even so, it would be worth a fortune now!

3k's worth. The one pictured is one of a pair of electronics, the frame numbers follow. He's been offered 20k for the pair, it's crazy what some folk will pay. The electronics are like rocking horse poo these days. Iv'e known some folk pay 3k for laughable wrecks.
Another for stupid money www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lambretta-Italian-SX200-Readspeed-RB265cc-34hp-tuned-by-Readspeed-/221642415978

I fitted the modded FMF just and took it for a short ride, still way to loud ! I'd like it to be a bit louder than standard but I don't think it will be possible with the FMF . I might sell it on and look for something else.

That's a relatively short baffle, I think a slightly longer one would have more affect or one with some packing in...or yeah putting one in the header may silence it even more, trouble with modding the standard one is, the standard one is just a bit ugly and heavy isn't it....the Lamby gp200 is sweet.smile

Oh yeah riverside' was selling it on here, he sold it though. Think FMF do their own dB killer don't they for £22, brings it down to 96db, is that not any good??

Yes I've been looking at some 25mm perforated tube and some stainless steel wool (packing). The FMF quiet insert don't make much difference aparently.

After reading lots of info on different websites I came up with this idea. I used stainless steel exhaust packing/wool and stainless steel mesh.

The db killer that came from China.

20150308_164551.jpg

with the end plug fitted.

20150308_164635.jpg

Steel wool and mesh.

20150308_164920.jpg

wrapped the steel wool and mesh around the db killer

This has made a significant difference in the sound, still nice and deep but quieter than before.

Thanks, I have ordered another db killer and some steel tube to weld something together. I'll still make it when the materials arrive just to see what it sounds like but I'm happy how
it sounds now.
