Its only been on 3500km with all road riding although i did do 500 km on the beach mostly hard sand. Kept the chain lubed as much as i could in between rides. I did notice a clicking sound as i accelerated slowly in 1st  2nd and 3rd. But when i coasted it was quiet. The 14 tooth. Standard yamaha sprocket is back on now and its all good.

looks like a new sproket and an old chain .

it seems expensive but chsin and sprokets should be replaced ss a set the if ghe chain had a bit of wear ghe links are further apart and run up high on the sproket bending the teeth

a new chain and sproket set will get you back on the  road

Thanks for that explanation Les biggrin

I have always stuck by the mantra "new chain new sprockets" but didn't understand why!

The only point I would add is that I have found over the years that a chain and rear sprocket will last two front sprockets. Can't afford to change the lot when the chain and rear sprocket are only half worn so I do change the front sprocket and it usually then lasts the life of the rest of the chain set. I also swap out the split link at the same time as the clip will have worn thin at this stage and its not worth spoiling a trail ride by losing the split link out of the chain.

Thanks ttboof.  I did the chain pull test on the rear sprocket like this illustration pic. Mine has no where near this much. Also chain has only 13,000 km on it with %90 tarmac ridding and always lubed , the adjusters are only on number 7 dot. Im thinking the 13 tooth sprocket i bought maybe of a weaker metal. Ive gone back to the original 14 tooth that was on the bike before i changed it To see how it wears. Cant afford new chain and sprocket set right now, but will aim for it in a few months.
