help i need new chain and sprockets

but not got a clue as to what to get.  

Upon giving the chain a good clean I found some of the links have seized.

I am pretty sure i have the standard set.  I use the bike for commuting and for green lanes.  Around Surrey it is fairly hilly.  but I do not know.  what is the standard sprockets and chain?

My stock set-up was 14/52 with a 520 chain (unless you have a Raid?)

Mine has 14/44 standard NZ model... but is a bit to high
So I now use 14/48 for road & it's a simple change to a 12 tooth
engine sprocket for offroad with out having to lengthen /shorten the chain..
12/48 is about the same ratio as 14/51....

+1 for Pete's info except I don't like 12T sprockets as they bring the chain a tad too close to the chain slider and are a bit harder on chains.

The standard UK gearing is also 14/44

For most UK applications, including green laning, 13/48 or 14/52 work well and allow the TTR to rev out in top on the road.

Thanks brian, i need the bike to run easily at 50 mph for commuting, which would you recommend out of the 3 options?

13/48 is probably the best way to go. Easily cruise at 50mph with another 20mph available in reserve for overtaking etc wink

hey guys..

im looking for new chain and sprockets..

i found on net a 14/44 set here.. www.ebay.com/itm/99-06-Yamaha-TTR250-TTR-250-EK-O-RING-CHAIN-MADE-IN-JAPAN-520-110-69-2610-/330736338956

this one i know its the original setup

what u think?

will it be good for off road or should i go to a 14/47 better? (1nd 2nd gear for long periods)

i dont want to loose much power from top speed..cause ill drive some miles on road before getting on trailroads.

plz help.
