Can get one very very cheap.

Have anyone ever tried to make it work?

Just wondering if you have the older 1993~1999 Open Enduro (steel tank) model?

The reason I ask is that the XT600 tank is fitted in much the same way the older Open Enduro models are. The tank does not bolt at the front, instead it has two rubber mounts to hold it in place (see diagram below) and bolts at the rear.

If you do have the older model it may be worth trying it?

It can be done with the 21 litre tank, according to the Adventure Rider site confuse

"The 21 litre Acerbis tank is exactly the same as the one they sell for XRs. A bit Fugly, but practical. Just need to make up some sturdy mount brackets (picture below) for the front. With that on, even with hard riding, you'll get around 400km which is plenty for anything I did (which was mostly multi-day trips with tents etc etc.)"

No, new blue model. Maybe I'll buy it and try to make it work, sell it again if I dont.

No, that is a different design, same as the XR250/400/600/650 models. Ideal for a TTR but very expensive in my neck of the woods.

Yes, I think Martyn may have got a little confused. smile

The frame can be modified to fit the older tank but it is whether or not it is worth the trouble or whether it even fits in the original position?

Thanks for the pics de_laerra

Does your boyfriend have one of the tanks such as in my picture?

No, he just bought this bike and has OEM tank. It is not suitable for TTR.

XT600e with OEM tank and XT600e with Acerbis tank:

TTR250 with XT600e OEM tank. It blocks steering:

Rubber mounts are located on different locations of the frame (and XT600 upper frame tube is wider) so tank didn't fit on rubber mounts:

Front and rear tank mounts:

Also XT600 upper frame tube is wider then TTR250 tube and XT600 tank has a bulge so it is very unsteady on TTR frame

Thanks for the pics, I can see that it is going to be a mission to make it work.

I'm going to rather keep looking for a Acerbis tank for the XR's.
